Sorry mate - I agree the results are very good - but the Gruppe M gives similar if not better results and looks better so I'll be sticking by it!
Fair dos mate, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have yet to see any GruppeM dynos with a standard car though.
When I get my new car and get the Gruppe M fitted I will get it done!

Car will be standard everything just Gruppe M as only mod.

Should be getting the results posted end of July.

Where do you get air from on a RR? Is there a big fan?

Ie would it be cheating if I was to find someway to force air at the scoop? Or would this just replicate how it would act on the road?

Also to settle the 95RON/100RON drama I have in germany I'll go with just under quarter of a tank 95RON then refill with 100RON and reset the ECU with Gruppe M fitted and not fitted if you follow me.

There was a fan but it was quite small. The f-ing thing was aimed at the grille of the car whereas the filter gets its feed from the battery area. So it wasn't like it was directly fanning the air for the filter. I guess this simulates real road conditions.

The feed picks the majority of its air from the hole behind the battery. Tests by ITG have shown that once on the move, there is a constant flow of cold air there which obviously increases as the car gets faster. If you look at the hole yourself you can see the road below through the slits.

As i have said before where the box gets its feed from is only one of a few vital aspects of a good CAI. Ppl tend to concentrate too much on the feed rather then look at the box itself.

With regard to the RON thing, that really took me by surprise. I believe it was Abbey motorsport a few years back did a back to back test with 95/98 RON. They found optimax lost power? So i don't know whats going on there then.

Needless to say I won't be going back to Sainsburys!

Looks very good piece of kit.

If there is a chance of group buy, i'm sure you won't have any problems getting 10+ buyers. Me being one :D

Alrite then milano this is going to be interesting. Battle of the red CTRs lol. But more seriously it will be a good test.

I take it thats why the Gruppe M has worked so well with the scoop being on the top of the bonnet.

Makes you think about inventing some equipment that can analize the car's power on the road (unless one already exists).

Btw heres a slightly technical explanation as to why the box works so well:

The carbon fibre housing features a radiused induction trumpet feeding from a large diameter primary inlet ducting arranged to collect cool external air. The trumpet design recovers air pressure from air velocity, filling a plenum volume around the large surface area of the MAXOGEN filter.

The radiused outlet of the Maxogen filter (below) connects to a high quality secondary duct to feed clean, high pressure, cool air to the engine. The complete system is amazingly light, typically weighing only 800 grammes, and yet it can handle air for up to 300bhp with ease.

Thanks scouse. I think I've plugged this kit enough now. I might be at GT Battle this saturday so if anyone wants to see this kit in the flesh you will be more then welcome. I will also have the dyno sheets to hand for the sceptics.

Maybe should sell the first few off cheap :D , so we can prove these gains. the more good reviews the better.

Well i do believe I have proven the gains. But obviously it would be good for more cars to have the kit on and dyno. As a measure my car made less power then book figures but torque was the same.

Dynojet dynos are ranked as being one of the most accurate, alongside Dyno Dynamics dynos and the Dynapack series. In the states they are very popular and they are 2-3 years ahead of us in the tuning game.

We ran the car more then a dozen times on that dyno. I doubt there will be another test as comprehensive as this one.

Poor car

On the dyno graph ignore the torque spike on the standard run, that was a blimp on the dyno.

The actually peak torque as standard was around 122-123lb/ft

Looks very good, have to say it is very similar in design to the underrated BMC. Even the principles employed sound similar to the BMC.

Very impressive gains though, have to say very surprised with the Optimax results. I used it for 6 months and couldn't tell the difference although its such a relatively small gain you will probably be hard pushed to notice.

Whats holding it in place so it doesn't fall onto the throttle cable?

Glad you've had results with it Paul, i'm well impressed with my DC2 airfilter so i can't see anyone being dissapointed with the CTR/DC5 one, supreb bits of kits and Stuart @ ITG is a great guy and very helpfull 8)

Alanok> yeah the bmc is alrite, CPL dyno tested it and it gave a solid 5whp gain. I don't need to say how many the ITG one gave

Your surprised by the optimax results... I was shocked  I thought to myself what is the man talking about, blah blah extra 6bhp on an accord type r and i thought he was talking bull. When we came back and reset the ecu i was like eh? Extra 5-6bhp at the wheels and 4lb/ft extra. Where on earth did they come from? Only change was the fuel and ecu reset so i guess its because of that.

Also if you look at the graph, the optimax curve appears to be somewhat smoother, alot less up downs if you know what i mean.

HASNIC> I always knew the ITG would come good in the end, even when things went from bad to worse with the prototype problems and numerous delays i never lost faith. I even sold my gruppem so that shows.

Stuart is such a good bloke. He offered to put me up for the night as he knew I would have had to get up very early to make it on saturday. He even invited me to his house for drinks but I had to get back for family reasons if not I would have gone.

I am looking to go back in a few weeks to get the coloured tubing fitted and then if and when i do get a DC5 Im going to pop back up to ITG again for them to fit and find a new cold air duct.
