I have a puzzling braking issue with my FN2.

In the five weeks that I've owned it, and 1500 miles later, the front alloys barely have a spec of brake dust on them. By contrast, I've had to clean the rear alloys four times, in that time. Is this normal?

This bugs me, because I see other FN2 with dirty front alloys, that are caked in brake dust.

09 plate, not yet done 20K miles. None of the service invoices that I have say that brake pads or discs have been changed in six years, just the fluid, which was changed in March this year.

I'm going to pop into the stealers at lunchtime to see if they can be any help.

If they are definitely the same pad compound front to rear then it could perhaps be that the rear brakes are binding a little.

same compound?... OE discs & pads of the same type I imagine. While it is nice that I don't have to repeatedly clean the front alloys, I'm just concerned that there could be a problem in a few months time when the roads are continually wet.

Right. Who can I go and see about the brakes on my FN2. I've been to Honda already, and now I don't know what to do. They have said that there is nothing wrong with the brakes having stripped the front and rear pads out, and re-assembled. Do I go back and suggest that they now test the master cylinder and the proportioning valve? The next step, as far as I can work out, is to go see a brake specialist to see what's up. Soon the rears will be worn out well before the fronts, and that'll be the first time I've ever had that happen on a car!

I'd go to an mot centre and her a roller brake test, that will show you the brake effort of individual wheels. It is unlikely to be a problem as you would notice when driving (more so in the wet) if the braking bias was incorrect. Definitely the thing to do, pointless replacing parts and guessing possible faults when the only symptoms are unexpected brake dust.

Thanks.....Honda did do a roller brake test as well and said the results were good enough to pass an MOT. Hardly representative of real world driving, but they're not interested in that. I'll give the subject a rest for now and just replace the brakes when they wear out....
