Ok Guys just got my civic type r last week and i have noticed when i am driving that the standard cd player/radio seems to get louder when i go faster, so i was wandering if this is meant to happen? I might be getting a headunit anyway but just checking to see.

ep3 or fn2???

Sounds like you have SDV (speed dependent volume) quite common on OEM units, it's supposed to be convenient but usually ends up annoying.

Funny you should say that as im sure mine did this on the m/way the other day. Although being an ep3 im sure it was just my imagination - were lucky to have a basic cd player in these bone shakers lol.

Its a definate feature on the FN2 as this was the case on mine..

Havent noticed it on the EP3..

Yea its an FN2 and its soo annoying even a wee burst of speed and the volume will increase and then just die down, surely there is a way to disable it...i will read the book or just remove it altogether....

push your tune button until the last option, its like shd or 3 letters, turn the tune knob this allows you to see your options

Had this in my focus, it was very tedious, it's supposed to be so the volume seems the same but is very noticable

People i finally got round to having a look at this and according to the Honda book for the FN2 this is called SVC (speed-sensitive volume compensation) and incase anyone is interested there are three settings Low Medium and High, to turn off press the sound/tune button on the standard Honda cd player until SVC appears and then adjust the volume button to either Low, Medium, High or Off.
