Worth having if its too noisy driving normally. If your ragging it take it out.

Will any garage be able to test DB's and how much does it cost, because im a little concerned about the volume of mine.. When we went to Brands for the final day of the BTCC i had loads of people asking me what i had as it was uber loud...

DC 4-2-1, Supersprint (i think), Magnex

Just want to know how loud it is in comparison to other exhaust mods, as when im shifting it my mates can hear me coming from a clear mile away.

Its not something garages check. You need to go to a meet where someone is doing testing or at a trackday when the cars are checked for noise which pretty much happens at most of them now.
If TDi North do another CTR rolling road day I may take my gear along and update some more combinations.

That would be most appreciated as its a hell of a trek from Weston-S-Mare!!

Yes.

If your noise level testing its actually louder with the bung in!
Reason is the back pressure created that when you lift off there is a very loud POP which peaks the meter.
When revving it worked out about 3db lower with the bung in which is what they really look for .....until you lifted then went about 5db higher.

sweet i no my noise levels now, dc-spoon-spoon 106db and i love how it sounds, When i 1st started modding my car i put a supersprint un-silenced mid pipe on along with a magnex twin 3" slash cut back box and boy was that loud  (we all make mistakes when starting out  ) It sounded louder than the combo i have on now.

Checked my noise levels today, to see if I'd need a Spoon B-Pipe/OEM Backbox combo for Trackdays.

TDI Manifold / Toda B-Pipe / Toda Backbox = 96db @ 5500rpm

Used the sound metre at 50cm from exhaust, held at a 45deg. angle, which is the measurement most circuits seem to use.

The TDI Manifold is pretty much identical to a DC Sports one, so I should think the above figure would be about the same with a DC Sports Mani.

Just like TP's figure of 94db with a Toda Mani, it goes to show how quiet the Toda Exhausts are.

EDIT: Had the above mani/exhaust combo noise tested at Cadwell Park for a trackday, and they reported 91db @ 6000rpm  .

does anyone happen to know here I could get the sound levels checked? I've just had the Piper catback fitted and I'm wanting to find out the sound level to know if I can take it on track, called Oulton Park and they can only check for me on weekdays - what with work and travelling time there's no way I can get to them anytime other than a weekend. :???:

Oulton is 105db so you shoud make it easily if you just have a cat back fitted.

just to keep in mind mine is decatted with a race mani, unsilenced b-pipe and spoon n1, but if i took the spoon off i got it down low enough to go out on track, if you have a standard box use it

not sure the Piper bpipe will fit with OEM backbox :???:

I seem to have hit a brick wall with getting the sound level checked, might have to bite the bullet and buy a tester from Maplins or such.
