7.35GB ain't so bad. Just nip along to your favourite game store and they'll give you a copy on disc in exchange for a fee; gift-wrapped in a nice box and complete with booklet/instructions and suchlike... :thumbup:

It wasn't so bad for me, I had just been made redundant from my job as a Product Designer and was looking for a stopgap. Nearly 6 years later and i'm still here :lol:

:lol: That's a lengthy stopgap! I'm assuming you are still enjoying it so fair play mate. Can you say which dev house you're working at/for? And which games you're currently involved with? :wink: (Thought I might as well try my luck, although I expect "no comment" to be the answer!)

#ifdef _RANT_ANNOYANCE

Indeed - still annoys me to hell even though I don't work in the industry anymore. A game I worked on with a previous studio got released and sold only around 7,500 units in the first month... yet was downloaded from torrent sites 75,000+ times in the same time period. When my builders/architects(*) have finished building my new place, which they've been working on for the last 18 months and for 16+ hours everyday including weekends, I'm not going to pay them. I see it as a freebie.

(*) - I've not really got a team building a new pad; it's just a bad analogy I like to make - amounts to the same thing really.

Piracy seems to have taken off even more in this generation than previous ones. And yet, the very people who do it will be the same ones endlessly complaining that there isn't enough variety in gaming and everything is a sequel....

Given that he works for Eutechnyx, I may be making a random stab in the dark , but I'd guess it's a driving game with the word "Challenge" in the title... :wink:

Internet may have brought piracy to a higher level but it was always pretty big I think.

Used to buy tapes for the Spectrum and copy those.
Used to go to an Amiga club and everyone spent the entire 2 hours copying each others games.

Things like Steam and digital downloads stop me pirating most things on the PC as they are a)cheaper and b) I dont have to go to the shops. :lol:

Everytime I've bought a game it's usually a bag of sh*t. Most recent being COD MW2. The game has many problems but the developers continue to patch minor "bugs" that have been reported by poor players.

lol @ Ali on piracy! We were taping off the radio, copying vhs, floppy discs all the time. If you count the Playstation one as previous generation then I can't think of anything thats been more pirated :shock:

I still maintain that piracy has massively increased since the advent of torrents and broadband. Before that, copies went from person to person and took time to do. Doing an A to B tape copy took as long as the game was to load, usually 5 minutes, and you then had to go back to school and swap again. Now, that 5 minutes could see you downloading literally dozens of games or albums. It's far easier and far more people have the savvy to do it.

Eutechnyx? Oh dear... nothing against Eutechnyx at all; just feel sorry for them as they, at some point, had to deal with Empire Interactive... :???: :lol:

Work at Eutechnyx, we're a racing game studio mainly but have an open world game in development. Can't say much about the rest unfortunately, you know what it's like, but it's fair to say they are racing related.

Problem is there is a hell of a lot more money at stake these days. Costs millions just to make a ok-ish game these days.

A TDU or World Racing type game would be brilliant :cool:

Our open world game has nothing to with racing, involves Hell's Angels and the 70's. Our hearts sank when we saw the first Liberty City episode :lol: I think there's been some publicity for it but not that much as we are still a bit away from launch. Other couple of games in development are definitely racing :wink:
