I'm loving the wide look of the Evo 8 wheels on the EP3's - enough so that I'm talking to a fella who has a set for sale at the minute.

Only issue is the tyres. My EP has stock suspension and the tyres on the Evo wheels are 235/45/17. I'm thinking from what you guys have said, these will rub like buggery unless I roll the arches and alter the camber? I have 215's on my OEM rims at the minute but am I right in thinking the enkies are a whole inch wider?

I'm starting to think that if I do need to, I may aswell lower it, roll the arches, fit camber bolts and get it setup all at once.

What do you guys think?

I haven't fitted mine yet but i'm going run with 215's first then try 225's later on. Think the general rule is anything over 215 is going to rub when lowered... i don't know about standard suspension..... and I think that everyone thats fitted them so far has been lowered by 30mm or more

Thanks raffopj, I'll bear that in mind.

Does it make a big difference in ride quality when lowered 30mm?

The missus and I are expecting a newborn in the next few days and I'm going to be using the EP3 to ferry them about to she shops etc. Just don't want to wake the little terror when she finally falls to sleep (the baby I mean, not the missus!).

kezza - there is a car on the 1st page with 205/40 tyres fitted to these rims, so I'd hazard a guess and say yes it can be done - 40's will have a stiffer sidewall compared to 45's.

No worries mate.

I actually prefer the stretched look. I'd probably go for 215s for a good compromise between having the stretched look and a good contact area

I know what you mean it does looks really smart. I think it's also the low tyre profile which gives them that rubber-band look.

I've got 205/40s on my OEM wheels on the back of my car at the minute but I wouldn't recommend it unless you don't mind a harser ride. When I go over speed bumps the back-end always makes a massive thud. I've got 215/45s on the front and they are much more forgiving and don't alter your speedo (which is why the others are on the back).

thinking itll be 205s all over then 215s on the back while i use the 205s then 215s all over then :) ! am i daft for assuming 235s would rub more??

well I can't say for certain as I also was wondering if 235s would rub when running std suspension, but you would definately be risking it I think. I'd say the smaller the tyre the less likely they are to rub.

The Enkei wheels I was looking at had got 235s on all four but still had plenty of tread left. Would seem a shame to just take them off and get no use out of them at all. I'm now looking at a set of Inovit wheels as another option (see my other thread). They are copies of the rota torques but are only £344 for a set!

they look cool!! and cheap! beauty of the enkeis as well!! sure you could just use the 235s until they're done with? wanting a gruppe m soon as possible as well so going to have to recycle my tyres ha!!

I've just had a reply from another guy with a set of these Enkeis for sale. They have done 3k miles with good potenza tyres (235/45) and he wants in the region of £200. I'm a bit unsure whether to take the plunge to be honest. What do you guys think?

would enkei's shod in 235/45 rubber fit under the arches of a standard civic? or would modifications need to be made?
