Yup. Was discussed in a couple of meetings I attended, as was a 5 door as well. At the time the 3 door body didn't exist.

surprised honda are not going down the cylinder deactivation route. that definitely sounds like a bit of them being cam activated etc. seems VAG have got this in the bag now even on 4 cylinders. then we get lower emissions and better mpg but still get to keep the naughty side.

There's a difference between cylinder "deactivation" and cylinder "destruction" which is what VAG engines seem to be very good at recently.

Engine Speculation.
So, the new CRV will be coming with either a 2.0 i-VTEC and 2.2 i-DTEC powerplant (announced today). So, as Honda produce very few new engines is it a fair bet that the petrol motor is based on the K20?
In the past (7th gen Civic) there were two flavours of the K20 (K20A2 @200hp; K20A3 @160hp), is it now possible we might have something similar again... If they have reworked the K20 to get it in line with Euro5, is this a 'de-tuned' favour (equivilent to the old K20A3) and the CTR might get the full fat version?
Hmmm...
