Pffft, if it's not 300bhp they shouldn't bother
orly?

New VXR 270 odd
New Megane 265

Why do 300bhp?

If they could make it 230-240 and just lighter
I was thinking the same Dan i havnt heard any other hot hatchs at 300bhp either
The 250bhp FST is the 'warm' offering from ford and the hot Mk3 FRS is remoured to be 350bhp, 135i is 320bhp, Mk3 MPS is rumoured to be 300-320bhp so anything less than 250bhp from Honda will be a big fail. Even a 2.0 derv ford offer has more power than a CTR so if honda can't even get slightly close to it's rivals they might as well not bother and put their efforts into another hybrid as it'll just get mauled by everything.

What car in that sector is cheap though? None. Even the basic Dis'Astra is over £17K for a lowly 1.4 engined no equipment beast.

because its all about the power isn't it. always.

Power corrupts and its usually the same in hot hatches.

RS3 - £40K.
M135i - £29K

I know which I'd rather have.
The RS3.

This is the competitor for it anyway, same price

You're a f*cking idiot.

2 door coupe a rival for a 5 door hatchback?

The 5 door M135i is the RS3's rival. Plus its quicker and has better handling according to the reviews out there right now. The M135i might look odd, but it does its job far more effectively. And if you mention wet weather standing starts etc and snow, you deserve to burn in the fiery depths of satan arsehole.
I prefer quattro, more versatile.

Stu, the diesel 2.2 is well, no other way to say it. Expensive.

It's VW money.

Honda lost the plot with the FN2 and the trend is continuing with this travesty. They need to revisit their "because race car" days asap.

well as said above, you have your twingo's and C2's and super minis. and now hot hatches cover Mini JCW to Focus RS's and RS3's

Yes, cars are getting fat on elf & safety and the Type R is supposed the hottest car Honda can produce for £25k so if they can't engineer the engine to be atleast 25% less powerful than it's rivals then i would say, don't bother.

It doesn't have to get into a power war but it needs enough to atleast keep in touch and not get embarrassed by a derv hatch.

Focus ST, 250 bhp with a £21k list price, could well get discounted below £20k, that's cheaper than an FN2 2 years ago.

Only with all the options mate. The £27K was with literally everything you could add on which is the EX GT and those will be few and far between or demo's which will then be sold for way below that. You'd have to be mental to pay £27K for a diesel Civic.

Most people will buy the ES and that's £21K or the ES-T at £22K.
