Back in august 2010 I was on the M6 on the way up to Scotland, overtaking a scrap truck I heard metal hitting the the road, looked in my mirror and saw something metallic bouncing down the motorway - thought to myself "wow that was lucky, just missed hitting whatever that was"

Then at the services coming back to the car I noticed something not quite right:-

What make was that exhaust then? quality welds obviously  :salut:
Only the best welds will do, it's a regular thing with the DC-Sports systems apparently

Since had a new tip welded on that's going no where, new tip is a *cough *cough Powerflow job, but I did ask them to weld it with the powerflow text on the underside

Could be worse, ....you could be sporting an 8 year old rusty standard exhaust like me
Glad it's sorted now :bigthumb:

Another DC-Sports exhaust failure caused an issue recently; I was out on track at Llandow and noticed hitting vtec didn't produce the usual power increase - sound would increase as normal but the power just wasn't there.

After asking about it on this very forum it was suggested I take a look at the manifold flexi joint, this is what it looked like:-

As you can see the engine was trying to breathe through a hole smaller than a 50p peace, another quality DC system

I did post a pi$$ take for sale thread of the failed flexi joint at the time but it was deleted for some reason

 :???: Thought DC did better products than that. :-|
My standard exhaust finally let go the other day in a great fashion. Sheered straight through with rust on one of the bends near the backbox after going over a speedbump in Fairwater. Sounded like a tractor the entire way home.
I decided to get a nice stainless steel system & backbox from Longlife in Caerphilly. Really glad I did because it sounds just like I wanted it too. Not too loud (quite deep) and when you put your foot down it's got a nice "racey" sound to it. Should be perfect for trackdays. :-D :bigthumb:

excellent do you want me to get that added to your feature car page [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]
thanks, but I think I really need to do another feature car page as the current one is so out of date, I'll probably have some more videos ready from our forthcoming day at Llandow by the time I get round to sorting a new feature page

(would it be possible to keep the old page up and indexed? don't want to lose the "newport chav" google image result :roflmao: )

on another note I'm still figuring out what to do with all the footage of you and the other guys from Bont, I will do when I get the time

yes dont worry your updates will just get added onto your current feature carpage I need to update mine too, so you wont loose your newport chav lol

Be great if you could do something with all those videos from the bont but I do know how long it takes so dont worry [smilie=karls_thumb.gif] did you see Giles spin on the bont very very very lucky

Little update with some recent work:-

New CyberSpeed rear camber arms, I didn't get a good photo before they were installed so I've used the stock photo to show them (still doesn't do the blue sparkle justice)

Look away now N&N, this wheel arch may give you nightmares

I also purchased some new rubber for the 17" buddyclubs, going to try these federal 595 RS-R semi-slick tyres at the next track day
Image

Wheels and tyres in the living room? well as the tyre fitters had covered the wheels in black mud and it was raining when I got them home I washed them off in the bath (one of the benefits of living on your own)

I heard that with these these extra sticky tyres the engine may suffer from oil starvation on track, cue a little birthday present to myself

It's a K-developments v3 drop in baffled sump, supplied and fitted by RMotion - cheers Mike n Kris

While the sump was being fitted the car had it's valve clearances checked, new rbf fluid and new ds2500 pads fitted to the front; my sticky caliper resurfaced on way back from RMotion so a new caliper is required - grrr, it's been an expensive month

Decided to take the opportunity to refurb the replacement caliper rather than paint it in situ; cleaned it yesterday, going to paint it today

I bought yet another oil filler cap last year as the previous two never looked quite right with all the other reds going on in the engine bay, up until now I had not taken a picture of it (and on reflection, I should get a better one)

Cheers, the black buddy club oil cap finishes it off well, the picture probably looks better than in the flesh as there's still too many different shades of red going on in there

I fitted the wheels the other night, the new tyres kick some serious botty - grip is immense even when cold, I couldn't even get near the limit, not sure on their wet performance yet

Went out and took some pictures yesterday, I hadn't washed the car since tuesday so it's not as shiny as could be, thought you may appreciate these shots beefy [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]
