My car revs itself now and again,

Revs between 1-3.5K continuously for a few mins, comes and goes and is particularly EMBARRASSING in town when at traffic lights with my Spoon N1 system and everyone thinks i'm some sort of boy racer prat revving the tits off my car!

Spoke to Richard as TTS as I thought it may be related to my Rotrex but he thinks the IACV will need a clean or perhaps replaced.

As I mechanically challenged can someone please advise me how to do it/point me in the direction of a guide (couldn't find one)

Really no need for a guide.

Just need to remove flexi pipe on the throttle body (if you have standard or grupe m airbox)

Four bolts an electrical connector and two coolent pipes remove the throttle body, then the IACV is held onto the throttle body with two screws.

Get some carb cleaner and get it all inside the IACV and makes sure it moves/rotates freely. If it doesn't move freely or doesn't fix the problem you may need to replace it.
