I like the idea of having a harness in my premier drivers seat, but I still need the use of my back seat for work. It's there a way to fit them and still have a useable back seat?

Does the premier come with Recaro seats though (like I have in my 30th Anniversary Edition) with two seat belt holes or does it have the standard CTR front seats with the one centre hole?
If it's like the Recaros with two holes then I think you can only use a four point harness. To fit that you'd need a harness bar, which would make the rear seats unusable or to have them fitted to the rear seat belt points, ...again making the rear seats unusable. :-|

You could maybe get a 3 point harness though if it's the standard CTR seat with just one hole at the top.
I have seen one before(not in a CTR though) which when fitted can easily be removed and allow you to use the back seats or the normal style seat belt if you want. Like this; http://www.versionr.com/harness/index.shtml http://www.versionr.com/harness/pages/15-tail.htm
Hope that helps some. :bigthumb:

How not? It has the holes in the seat. I have DC2 Recaros now and could still fit a harness

You use long eyebolts that go through the original seatbelt brackets so you still have your seatbelt and harness

Two piece seats will collapse in a crash and so will you spine

You need to replace the seat as per the picture above

So they made seats with holes for a harness but you can't use them with a harness? I don't know all the ins and outs all i was saying is yes you can fit a harness with your standard seats and keep your rear seats in

To be fair Mugen and Renault have fitted harnesses for track tests to their respective flagship cars, on two piece seats.

I have a three point harness in my CTR with standard one hole seats. Just looped it around the rear strut brace bar in the boot.

Only ever use it on track to keep me planted in the seat as a normal seat belt is useless in that respect and i always use both seatbelt and harness. when i'm not using it i just pull it through the rear seat and it sits in the boot. The other parts just lay down between the seat and the center console/door sill.

No problem.

I think the point is that you need a harness bar to take the strain and this will negate the use of the rear seats

I am sure it would be fine but I guess only Honda or recaro can really say for sure on these seats, I will bet they will not recommend this :)

For the occasional track day it won't be an issue as there are no regs for this. For any race or timed events though that's different.

funny... today I decided not to bother with my seatbelt at all because I am not planning to crash and burn

It is amazing how many EP3's are found on the public highway upside down in a ditch... I am sure people didn't think they were 'likey' to crash at the time

Two piece seats supposed to collapse with a harness unless it has been set up correctly. Personally I think as long as it looks good that’s fine for me, plenty of people have survived having a broken back.Image
