Ive recently lost my Front lower engine undertray somewhere, only found out the other day when i got underneath it to do an oil change and thermostat change.

I know the oem undertrays are pretty small/narrow, are they important at all? Play much of a role? or should i hunt for one at the scrappers?

Engine bay has recently got really dirty, is it as a result of missing undertray do you guys reckon?

If it doesnt serve much of a purpose I think il leave it out.

the only purpose its there for is to stop cr.ap getting into the engine bay, (i'd have thought)

if its pi$$ing it down and your out on the road a lot of muck will splash up into the bay if there's no cover there to stop it coming in,

it's not a bad thing not having it but it comes in handy if its stoping $hit splashing up into the bay, :salut:

That explains why the engine bay is covered in crap , never seen it so bad in the 4years ive owned the ep3.
I didn't even realise when i lost the undertray

Its only a small undertray, like narrrow. Its connected to front of the bumper, and i think front part of the arches. Its not a full undertray like most cars have just a front narrow one.

You can tell it did work in keeping the crap out, because my engine bay has gone filthy recently since its gone missing.

Mine snapped off a few months back, nothing has happened since.

It does cover some important bits on the drivers side wheel arches, other than that I wouldn't worry about it. They're around £150 from Honda so ive just left mine

oh i think i have that one. The 130i had trays under the normal trays. always annoying as if you ever dropped anything int he engine bay it never came through amd required a lot of stripping to retrieve.

I checked with lings honda, they are only around £68, but ive just got a second hand one from a breakers for £30 delivered , He'l prob post it out monday so i should get it during week depending on when he sends it out.

Yella I know exactly what you mean about dropping things and they never fall out from bottom in cars with full undertrays , Ive lost a few sockets that way, never found the bleedin things! Even an old astra diesel we have has a full under tray, and actually is pretty strong, not flimsy like what i have seen on most cars.
