The Astra drives poorly and it is so detached from the road, there is little point in it having a steering wheel.
There are worse cars granted, such as the Peugeot 207, Nissan Note, Renault Megane and Vauxhall's own Meriva but why make a car that is so lifeless.
I suppose Renault have taken their terrible Megane and pretty much transformed the car with the RS, so there is some hope....
yes i hired one when i went to inverness for the golf, was the CDTI couldn't fault the car really the only thing i didn't like was the electric handbrake
We obviously have very different standards. Having spent over 2000 miles driving various SRIs, I can categorically say they are shocking to drive (again, still not the worst).
My next question would be, have you ever driven a car that is regarded as good to drive?
They are not shocking to drive at all you dont half talk some balldocks, for the class and budget there in there fine you wouldn't expect anything more or less really. here have a read

What is "good" ? as i believe every car has its good and bad points for me it depends what your after, from the cars ive driven it would be some thing like
comfort/luxury

Fun but thats about it

Comfort but fun when needed
