Has anybody actually driven the current Astra?

They are going to have to a great amount of work to the Astra to make it drive well.

The Astra drives poorly and it is so detached from the road, there is little point in it having a steering wheel.

There are worse cars granted, such as the Peugeot 207, Nissan Note, Renault Megane and Vauxhall's own Meriva but why make a car that is so lifeless.

I suppose Renault have taken their terrible Megane and pretty much transformed the car with the RS, so there is some hope....

I once knew a man who worked for Honda F1 team.

He is redundant now but thats a different story all together.

His car was an EP3 Civic Type R, and it also had a small vtec Turbo that kicked in at 6500 ish rpm.

Cool eh?

Exactly, only like the 19's and 20's that people put on the ST they dont really look out of place due to the cars been so big and bulky now

We obviously have very different standards. Having spent over 2000 miles driving various SRIs, I can categorically say they are shocking to drive (again, still not the worst).

My next question would be, have you ever driven a car that is regarded as good to drive?

They are not shocking to drive at all you dont half talk some balldocks, for the class and budget there in there fine you wouldn't expect anything more or less really. here have a read http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarr ... c_sri.html you love reviews dont you "Drives very well,"

Have i ever driven a car that is regarded as good to drive? what classes a car as good to drive my opinion or some magazine review?

What is "good" ? as i believe every car has its good and bad points for me it depends what your after, from the cars ive driven it would be some thing like

comfort/luxury

535d, a5 3.0TDI, 330D,

Fun but thats about it

CTR, MK1 FRS, 205gti, swift GTI

Comfort but fun when needed

MK2 FRS, M3, 335I, 3 MPS, XKR

Course theres many more but there some of my personal favourites,

They must have brought out a new or facelifted Astra out recently as the SRI's I have driven from AVIS definitely didn't have 178 BHP or look anywhere near as sporty. As such I haven't driven that model, so cannot comment.

In fact, I am so fed up with AVIS's attitude on supplying our company such poor cars, I am now resorting to travelling on the train.

The Astra 1.8 SRI that I have been driving over this last week has pushed me over the edge - I am drastically been put off cars, having driven so many poor examples that have no character and are frustrating and annoying to drive.
