I have no idea what an x sport looks like, would just presume it was another mondeo.

It's just another mondeo with a party frock on.

So what was the EP3?

A Civic with a party frock on or something else?

A hot version of a normal car, different engine, gearbox, brakes, wheels, even hubs were 5 instead of 4 stud, different seats, suspension, anti-roll bars and extra seam welding on the chassis.

If your idea of a party frock involves your mrs having numbers organ donors along with her new dress you got issues.

People upgrade their EP3 with EIbach suspension - the TXS comes with it as standard.

The Premier EP3 also comes with different carpet, Momo steering, blacked out rear windows and Type R embossed calipers.

Its not that exotic or different from a 'normal' Mondeo, I mean, it is a normal Mondeo.

Just today an Audi A4 guy said that 'looks rather quick' at the petrol station in Malvern with his full tweed outfit on.

Agreed. I owned the Premier EP3 for 3 years and I was very impressed with the car.

It's still Ford's second best recent car, after the Focus RS. The ST is okay but it is far too restrained.

I hope you saying that it's a Mondeo, you realise that, in itself is synonymous with saying 'best drivers car in its class'. This is done in magazine reviews for those educated enough to read and to be able to come up with emphatic modifiers that are not in fact, regarded as an indicator of overall intelligence levels.

Not sure why engine sharing is an issue, they also use Lamborghini engines, but yeah I agree, barely noticed an Audi R8 V10 fly past the other day. Oh and an RS4 went past but the noise was so quiet and average I nearly didnt realise it!

They aren't comparable. It's just a desperate attempt to justify a buying decision that anyone with an actual knowledge of cars wouldn't make.

The difference is I have read most car reviews for the last 20+ years and I actually test drove all the cars other than the FD2 that were up for the replacement of the Premier EP3. I have read more articles, discussed cars across various forums and been back and forth to a multitude of dealers to find the right car.

I have made an informed decision and gone to the effort that most people will never do - I still worship the Type R and think the same of it as I did when I owned it.

My old ST had this before my Type R after a short spell in between of 2 weeks with a new MX5...

It looks bog standard... Was an ST 2...

made 265.7bhp on the rollers, was happy with that had a lovely smooth curve of torque...



What made me get rid was 15mpg going toa nd from work, also, when you pushed on in it, it never filled you with confidence, yeah straight line blasts not and issue, could really feel the weight in corners...

My next Focus would be an RS Mk1 or 2
