All these great comments on my Evo really do not help, given that it's only recently i've found acceptance with the CTR

Thanks lads. It was a special car. Miss it all the time, but made the right decision to sell when i did. Since then the price of the Evo has dropped about £5k-£6k whereas i'm only down about £2.5k-£3k on the CTR.

I had Tim's immaculate Type R Civic last week to get detailed.
The car arrived on the Thursday evening just as it was beginning to get dark.
There were a few small scratches on different panels of the car, but nothing major. Under the street lights I could see the swirls on the roof and up the sides, again they were nothing serious but still noticeable.

Friday...I had an accomplice (Nick) up from Kildare for the weekend to help me. He owned the badly swirled Boston green BMW that I detailed a few months ago and also owns one of my old Scoobs. He has just started a new job with a detailing company in London and was up to share some knowledge and get some practise and advice.

We got started into the engine bay, again nothing too bad, just some dirty areas.
Engine bay cleaned first with G101 sprayed on and then brushed, there were no oily deposits to remove,Ali cleaner used to brighten up inlet manifold, all powerhosed off and then dried. Autosmart Finish was then sprayed on later and allowed to soak into plastics overnight.

Tim had mentioned the plastic strips on the roof and how they were blotchy and grey in colour. They were removed and cleaned, the first attempt at cleaning did not produce great results so then I cleaned them again with Speedy500 adhesive remover and then applied Trim Wizard and let them sit overnight.
The dirt and green slime underneath the strips was cleaned off.

Car was washed with AutoBrite cherry snowfoam in the foam lance on a Karcher pressure washer, Megs Hyperwash and 2 bucket method with lambswool mitts.
Arches were sprayed with G101 and hosed off with dirt blaster nozzle.
Door shuts de-greased with Tardis and G101, all trim lines, window rubbers, petrol cap, all panel gaps, bumper edges etc were all sprayed and brushed to remove any ingrained dirt, then all hosed off.
Fallout remover applied, then detarred and clayed with BiltHamber clay
Rims cleaned with AS Smartwheels

Arches sprayed with AS Finish.

Engine bay was not too dirty but would soon be better.

The headlights were very badly swirled and on the driver side there were some bad scratches. I got the swirls removed and improved the bad scratches but on the inside of the headlight there are still swirls from when it was previously split apart.

Saturday ..... slight hangover, Friday had been a late night with quite a few tubes consumed and I wasnt looking forward to listening to 2 polishers working all day, but had to battle on.

Correction process......
Makita polisher for paint correction
Kestrel DAS polisher for finishing, then applying glaze and sealant
Menzerna Power Finish (PO203S)
Menzerna Final Finish (PO85RD)
Orange Britemax ProFinish pad for correction

After correction the paint was refined with Menzerna Final Finish on the black finishing pad, then taken out and washed, then dried and wiped down ready to apply the glaze.
After the glaze was buffed off some sealant was applied and allowed to cure for an hour.
Blue Hexlogic pad used to apply the glaze
Black Hexlogic pad to apply sealant.
PoorBoys White Diamond Glaze.
Poorboys EX-P sealant.
Exhaust tip and back box polished with Autosol.
Collinite 476s applied to rims
Trim Wizard applied to tyres and plastics, allowed to dry into tyres and lightly buffed off the following day
Windows polished.

Finally Valentines Road N Track wax was applied, and another coat applied on the Monday before it was picked up.

Some finished pics.

Thanks for the positive comments, lads. The work was done by Geoff from Mobile Auto Detailing - (M.A.D.), he's based in Rathfriland. If any of the N.I. lads want his number feel free to drop me a PM.

As for cost, it really depends on what condition your car is in, when you bring it to the detailer, and what exactly you want/need done. No sane detailer would do the work for less than 3 figures, though.
