for a 'real' look at martial arts from around the world get hold of a series called Fight Quest

daft thing about the Alex Reid show is he had already pulled out of the fight before the show even got on the TV. Tom Watson would have won anyway as he was spending the time training not posing for the cameras

Just looked like someone rubbing their hands round their head as if it is on fire. How do you block a low point kick or front kick with it? Even the block they showed for a mid point kick to the ribs was dangerous; they had him dropping his body down and using his forearms to block his opponents shin. Check out Jerome LeBanner, he's a beast and one of the best conditioned K1 fighters there was/is. Ernesto Hoost gave him a few shin kicks to the arm and nearly ended his career.

The guard is also so close to the head that any hard punch or kick would just transfer straight through the guys guard into their head. If it didn't knock them out it would certainly stun them giving you time to unleash a liver shot or something.

watched fight quest last year and discovery hd are showing it again. the krav maga show was  , ive done urban krav maga and its tight but the stuff doug was doing was hardcore full contact no protection madness . tuesday nights muay thai was good aswell. its a discapline i would like to concentrate on.

as for strike force i agree with most, it was a poor version of ufc. there middle weight champ wouldnt last one round in the ufc. and the no elbow to grounded apponents is poo, dan was ground and pounded for 4 rounds if elbows were allowed it would of finished fast if that wimp of a guy had the power.

I meant street/bar fight as in multiple attackers in an uncontrolled situation with punches coming from everywhere. I train in Muay Thai and you cannot really compare Ernesto Hoost (the hardest kicker in K1) with a random idiot in a street fight.
I do agree with you to an extent though and I am not saying it's the best for the street but that training can only help as one of the founding members Andy Norman is a tough guy. Also a guy named Mo Teague (ridiculously hard man) also uses aspects of it while running the doors

WEC is always top class! it will end up on most file sharing sites i would have thought

Shields only had 1 fight left on his contract and that was his last fight against Hendo. carnt see him being good in the UFC though. for one there is a lot of good fighters in his weight and for two he is boring and not a fan fave at all
