Still in progress I'm afraid, but getting there..............

We've decided to have the front bumper remade as a single piece. The original bumper was the factory bumper with the lower Mugen lip with some add ons attached which was hard to stop from cracking due to movement and was very heavy. With the repair work that was needed to get the front bumper back in paintable form we realised it was going to be pretty much just as expensive to just mock up the finish and then get a fibreglass mould made, then generate a single part. Much lighter, won't crack and seperate and another can be easily made if needed, so at the moment that is in process.

Rest of bodywork is sorted and actual crash damage is no more. Rear bumper just needs to be prepped and rest of the body prepped and we'll be ready to spray. I've asked the paint shop for a timeframe to get it done as the Xmas and New Year break dragged things out and I want to make sure it's not something that just gets left in the corner........but at the same time they are doing me "mates rates" and so I don't want to get on their bad side.

I'd expect Mid to late march. Was hoping for early march, but that's looking unlikely. Will post pictures as things progress....

New seats and some other upgrade parts arrive soon though so looking forward to that too :)

Well finally got the news I've been waiting for and the paintshop called to say they're putting 2 guys on it full time to get it done and they're expecting 3 weeks !!!

Awesome news......... I know people will call me a dick, but driving the GTR isn't as much fun as the Civic......... I was only really getting used to the supercharger it and it was cruelly taken from me !!! LOL

So hopefully I'll have some pics of progress in the next few days. New seats turn up at the begining of next week and I've got new front and rear strut braces to go on also.

Thanks Dubbz........... I think the new look will appeal to more than the old chrome finish............ it was a bit of an experiment gone wrong, would have been cool if it was applied as it should have been, but that's a different story !

Not going chamionship white, but a real pure bright white, not keen on championship white........ looks like it's never clean !

Also, been meaning to post here for a while. Drucifer, you were bang on with the belt issue !!! Just before the crash the belt was slipping at high RPM so we'll have to find a better length belt......The one in the kit didn't fit as the pulley on the JDM cars was different and we ran short on time, but I think we'll have to try harder to get a better fit, so just wanted to let you know you were right :D

Nice one - this is what I've done to mine, haven't had any slippage issues in over 3,000 miles so far.

Nah, not when the customer returns the car to have the belt changed and are then charged an hour London labour rates for a 5 min job!

If you look at a standard auto tensioner and then looked at mine you will see where I've had to cut, grind and sand metal away to clear the snout of the supercharger!

The contact area for the supercharger has increased, which also prevents slippage and thus makes the charger pull in more air than ever before - the car pulls harder and stronger to the limiter now. I've been keeping an eye on my exhaust gas temps and noticed that the mix is a tad bit leaner than before. When I swap my exhaust it's going in for a full remap from scratch to rich up the AFR and see how much more power it's now making across the entire rev range.

OK cool, I'll have a look at my old one as I'm sure we've got it all there at the shop........... think I'll follow your lead and put mine back on or get a new one if my old one is shot.

Mapping is one area that I think way too many people think isn't that important and take a "as long as it's close enough" attitude, but if you've got a good tuner then it's worth tweaking the map as you make changes....... for most things, it'll take longer to get it on and off the dyno than to make the changes !

We have found a bug in the Hondata K Pro ECU that is causing a small issue for us, but they are aware of it, but don't want to resolve it so might have to live with it. It's to do with the temperature in the exhaust where the ECU starts to putting in more fuel in an effort to cool the catalytic converter (which isn't even on the car) and so it's an automatic response to "tip in" more fuel to cool the CAT's and in turn hurts performance when pushing hard.

We also resolved another bug when tuning where it was pulling timing and created a massive hesitation on light throttle at low RPM, but luckily they had a fix for that so we applied that and it's helped cure that one it seems, but if you're running a K Pro, you might want to contact Hondata as I think the more pressure we put on the better chance we have of getting a resolution.

Thanks mate.............. I work hard to build my cars to a high standard and they certainly are a labour of love.

Car's are my only vice pretty much and I've got a very reasonable girlfriend which helps !! :D

I'm hanging out to get the NSX started and I can't see any need to get any more cars............. just keep improving those !

Ahhhh you see you've got the wrong style......... the secret is to be pre-emptive.

You give her a bunch of flowers one day, sent to her work so all her friends are jealous.......... you tell her it's cos you love her and she's such a good girlfriend and you love how she lets you be you........(hey it's plausible), then you wait a few days since you don't want to make it obvious, then and only then do you buy a car or something big for yourself !!! LOL

Jeez I should have my own TV show......... pre-emptive strikes mate, they're the trick...... do something small and often and you'll never have any trouble.......

Got a progress update......................went down to the paint shop today and things are progressing well. They say it'll be no more than 2 weeks before it's finished !

Rear bumper is repaired, all of the metalwork is finished and it's basically just paint prep to be done now.

Body guys will have it done by end of tomorrow and painters will start next week to primer the car and then it's just a matter of prepping it for it's final colour !

I'm just talking to the paint supplier about a few technical things we need to know up front as even though the base colour is just a stock paint, the additive we're including in the paint is something I'm not aware has been done before in Aussie or NZ so want to make sure it goes well. I would tell you all, but it's going to be a surprise !! The paint effect is only obvious in low light so it won't make a difference to how it looks a good chunk of the time.
