If the mma fighter doesn't have a background in thai boxing then his shins are unlikely to be well conditioned and his kicking technique will possibly be sh*t. For whatever reason, a lot of mma fighters who start out solely in mma just seem to lift their leg straight up in the air rather than turning their hip into the kick and pivoting round on the ball of their standing foot. They also seem to leave their feet pointing upwards when striking. The combination of bad striking angle and not pointing his toes down means the part of his leg that makes contact is a lot weaker than it would be had he kicked properly.

just to let people know Fields Dynamite 2009 will be on in the small hours of the morning over in Japan and in my opinion will be a must see. it will be about 7 hours long with about 14 - 15 fights and a lot of annoying Jap stuff what we wont understand but its worth sitting through it for a good event

not the UFC but it is a MMA event with some big names on the card :thumbup:

oh and will be download only for us Brits

well im being removed from my company sick scheme for 12 month for having 3 periods of sick in three years barstewards. so thats no mma training for me this year. and i was going to start muay thai on thurs to mix it up some more

brock would murder kimbo, as much as it pains me to say. minataro is class but brock is just... a tank. I cant see any current ufc heavyweigfht having much of a chance against him to be honest - not now he has the experiance and mma training behind him. Anderson silva with a couple extra stone of muscle would have a good do at him lol :boxing:

UFC 109 is on next sat night/sun morning and i normally just watch it on ESPN and download it for the collection

Hardy and GSP will prob be UFC 111

on a side note Strikeforce was on last night and is repeated on Bravo tonight at 22:00. well worth a watch for Lawler vs Manhoef

to be honest i can see hardy pulling a upset. dont get me wrong gsp should smash him but there is a slight chance hardy will catch him and pull off a tko

put it this way gsp should win but if he doesnt i wont be shocked

strikeforce isnt a regular thing either. normally one every few months. next one is april sometime i think and fedor could make an appearance. bravo have it set up like they used to with the ufc, the event will be on sat night and then shown on bravo on the sun night

as for lawler and manhoef i was really looking forward to it. both are stand up fighters and while many dont really know about melvin he is a pretty decent mma fighter and a good k1 fighter. it was only ever going to end one way and that was somebody ktfo. glad it was lawler though as i had money on him
