Not sure if this has been asked, but how long should the CAF pipe be?
Was going order a pipe now & carry out the mod at the weekend :thumbup:

I think some one said half a meter is sufficient....could be wrong though.

I used the same one as christurbo off ebay, flatten half of it and compress as you fit it back into the engine bay.

Worth reiterating this as a word to the wise - attach the CAF and jubilee clip to the bottom of the airbox BEFORE you put it back in the back. It'll save you a load of bollock ache.

Alright guys. I really think this is a great piece of work and it looks fantastic :thumbup: A while back when I was doing the air box mode, i posted up on here about maybe running a second cold air feed into the box along with the existing one to get more air, but never thought about just replacing the OEM pipe with a wide code air ducting. From the pictures it is very hard to see how the cold air pipe has fitted behind the grill, but i will probably take a look at it on my car and sus it out somehow. By squashing up the pipe once it's behind the grill, does this no impact the air flow to much?

My next plan is to try and take this another step further and instead of using the panel style filter, try connecting a universal cone filter instead. Has this been done, or has anyone tried it? I'm not sure how much of a benefit it would bring, but even if i doesn't give an increase in performance I was trying to give it a better induction sound? I have looked on the internet are various universal cone filters and k&N do a filter, with a slight angled bottom. This would allow it to sit in the box a bit better. I did also read somewhere that someone drilled two holes in the bottom of the box and that gave it a bit of a grunt! Any opinions?!? Going to start work on this soon, so if i do managed to get an Open cone/closed air box system in place i will get some pictures up... :salut:

OK, got my spare air box to Modify, and also my ITG filter... was going to keep the standard air feed, but also bring a second one into it...

Does the original air feed to the box, come from the front? Or near something hot?

The OEM feed is from the battery. I doubt you will be able to do another feed at the same time. I dont see the point anyway, just follow what I did and replace the restrictive OEM CAF.

+1 - two feeds will just add turbulance to the airflow and reduce efficiency as there is no way to guarantee the air flowing through each pipe will have the same velocity... stick with a single feed as per this mod and you will be fine

took about 2-3 days, they email you (on ebay) every step of the way though...

as mentioned, they are very good ebay sellers.

ps. did anyone else give theirs a wipe inside when it arrived? mine seemed to have some sort of black powder residue in it... only took a little wipe with some tissue to get rid of it, but didn't really want it on my air filter!!

Have to admit I’ve just noticed this, have yet to fit the CAF pipe but after running my hand on the inside of it some black residue did come off! Probably nothing to worry about but cheers for the info! :bigthumb:

Already done the Hondata airbox mod with a K&N filter, can't wait to get the CAF fitted to finish it off, I've already noticed an improvment as it is!

i have now changed to a mugen airbox and the dyno results from it are much better than the airbox mod but then it is alot more cash. i will try to get a print out to show the difference between standard, airbox mod and mugen airbox. :salut:

Perhaps the question is stupid..you must reset the Ecu after Hondata mod?(Sorry for bad English)

don't think it makes enough of a difference to warrant an ecu reset tbh buddy...

i could be wrong though, it does happen from time to time!

actually I did... and of course forgot to post.. the temp at idle was 3 degrees lower with the new pipe and on a straight run at 60mph I saw between 4-8 degrees lower temp.. so this has to be a good thing.... :thumbup:

I probably wont wrap the pipe in insulation as I am seeing good reductions already so my worries about heat leaking from the radiator pipe was unfounded..
