No the airbox is a Password JDM unit, but we did remove the oil breather pipe and put a patch over it, you can see if you look closely.

We have a oil catch can down in the passenger side front wheel arch between the front tyre and front bumper and then have a small drain plug there so I can just undo it there and drain the catch can........ wasn't any more room in the engine bay without making it difficult.

Here's some video's as promised.......... sounds cool on the vids..... you'll see me mixing it up with 2 Porsche GT3's (yes I really was... ) was actually faster than them, had caught them, but the 911 Turbo was passing us all. 800HP and was a real rocket !

I came around for what I'd decided was the last time before pitting and hit a massive stream of water across the track and aquaplaned and spun quicker than I could think and hit the wall of the main straight pretty hard !

Luckily it was on the back rather than the front. Front although it looks damaged was completely untouched and car runs perfectly but the left rear wheel is a bit screwed !

NSX build is going to have to go on hold now ............... gutted for both reasons....

Yeah thanks guys................. indeed I think it's not going to be cheap to repair, however I did plan to repaint the car as the chrome finish wasn't applied properly in the first place and so am going to a more normal colour but was holding off till the NSX was here, but it's going to have to come first now.............

Still, hopefully it won't be too bad. Going to try and do what I can myself to help cut the cost down, but not sure what it'll cost overall......

As you say, it could have been worse, a lot worse I think if I'd gone in forwards after all of our recent work in the engine bay so I'm happy for that ..........

I'll let you know how we go.

So we got started stripping F1 RCR down today to see just how bad things are........

There's good and bad, more good than bad though so all in all a good day.

Here's a shot of the reason the back end was sitting down.....

Fuel pump cover...... notice the shift and how it's not sitting right... !!


The movement in the car looks worse than it is by all accounts and the guy who's working on the car has experience with his particular chassis and says he's very confident that it will pull back to where it should be quite well and he expects no issues so fingers crossed...... !

We ended up using some second hand parts like the back window glass as it was 700 quid !!!!!!! Mad !

I'll keep you all up to date as we go if you're interested.

Well thought it was time for a bit of an update...........

Car hasn't really moved much as they panel shop that's doing the work is trying to make things as reasonable as possible for me so it's doing things where it has time and space, but they're just waiting for a car to come of their chassis machine and then we'll be able to get the little beastie all straight again.

Have decided to go with a bright ice white colour, maybe with some small metalic or pearl in it and have had to buy a new set of wheels thanks to me breaking a big chunk off one of the old ones. Went for the same design as I can still use the front 2 once I've painted them the same colour but here's the new ones in the box !

I think they'll look great with a white car......


Will post some more info once we get the thing straight.......

OK so progress is being made......... slow but sure.

The guys doing the bodywork also did a recent refresh on the GTR and I was really happy with the work so went to them for the Civic fixup and they've let me participate and do a chunk of the grunt work to save cash and they've also fitted it in where they have time to allow them to give me a cheaper rate which is why it's taking longer than normal, but I'd rather save the cash on this one as it'll give me more to get on with the NSX project rather than more delays whilst my bank balance recovers !!

Anyhow......... so we've replaced the rear suspension arms that were bent (wheel took most of the brunt so in turn so did suspension) rest seems OK.

Got the car rear end stripped and onto the chassis aligner and things have come up mm perfect so that's a good feeling, but even though the points have matched up and some of the little bumps and dents have dissappeared with it, there's still something that's not right with it so we're still just geting panel gaps on the rear end right before we go to the next step.

Luckily since the rear guard arch was all made with steel was simply able to be pulled out as you can kinda see in one pic. The rest of the car seems good so as soon as we sort this rear hatch alignment issue we'll get prepping for paint !!! I'm going with a bright white rather than Championship white but it's going to have something very special (but a little less risky than the chrome) that I've not seen on any other car before so all will be revealed once we've got it sprayed........ don't want to let the cat out of the bag just want to post some pics and see what the reaction is............ it'll be too late if you hate it, but I think most will think it's just "unique" which is fine by me !

Great car mate. Sorry bout the ending. I too was not expecting that.

Thought I would let you know that if you can't get it straight and this road may have crossed your mind. There is a boot floor on eBay. Think it's about £200 buy it now. Check it out if your interesed. I know that should straighten up nicely but thought I would just throw it in there :thumbup:

Blimey - there's an unread thread to stumble across!

Firstly I really like what you've done to your car, sounds amazing with the S/C on full chat The engine bay work is very very nice Carbon is the way forward and the custom intake is a nice Gruppe M alternative. I hope you manage to get the damage fixed without putting too big a hole in your pocket, but like you say could've been alot worse.

Looking forwad to the new colour though, im intruiged! :thumbup:

Thanks for the positive comments.................. I've gotta admit that on it's first real track outing I was very happy with it's performance and to get Porsche owners to come over and look / ask I know I must have been doing something right Just can't wait to get it back out there again now.......... don't think girlfriend is as keen though LOL !

OK so it's been slow but we've made some very reasonable progress I think. We managed to pull it straight OK. We thought we'd done a good job first time around, but even though the machine said yes, the man from Del Monte said no................. so we gave it another go..........ended up having to use over 10,000KG of pressure and were about to give up and we heard it just give up the last little bit of resistence it had and things are now perfect. All 16 points that we have as reference are within 1mm or less of where they are expected to be and there's no visual signs that it was creased before so all good.

Then we fitted the new rear hatch and that now lines up nicely.

We put a very thin skin of filler on to see how things were shaping up and then just push fitted the old (still damaged) bumper to see if things looked right !!!

Front and rear bumpers are now getting repaired / remade and then I'll be able to start prepping / removing the old chrome finish and then hopefully by the end of Jan it'll be ready to paint. Progress is slow, but these guys are doing me a big favour fitting this in between their usual work to make it cheaper for me so I can't grizzle too much !
