why?? brock is an ex wwf nob who could do with a good kicking:-D and theres not many or none of the current heavyweights that could do it.
dnz 21 wrote:not saying Brock is any good at all and yes he needs a kicking but having a street fighting thug on top of the pile is exactly what Dana and the Fertittas have been working since they bought it to avoid!Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson was an unpaid street fighting thug who has transformed himself into an excellent mma fighter. Even Bas Rutten has had more than his fair share of street fights but he is a very well respected mma fighter. I think it's a bit unfair to assume that Kimbo will always be a 'street fighting thug'!!
trying to expand to places new around the world and legitimise the UFC as a sport and not just thugs fighting in a cage wont be helped if the champ is just that

I think Brock's antics after he beat Frank Mir did more damage to UFC's reputation than Kimbo would if he won the title.

Ruten was already well represented in Thai Boxing and then Pancrase before he even went to the UFC. Similar Rampage started out as a wrestler then onto small shows in the USA doing MMA before getting into pride and forging a decent MMA career then into the UFC. Both men have trained hard to get to where they are and as said in my earlier post Kimbo decided he doesnt need to train in certain aspects as a MMA fighter. Does that sound like a man who is serious about a MMA career or a man that is just a street fighter after a pay cheque?dnz 21 wrote:not saying Brock is any good at all and yes he needs a kicking but having a street fighting thug on top of the pile is exactly what Dana and the Fertittas have been working since they bought it to avoid!Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson was an unpaid street fighting thug who has transformed himself into an excellent mma fighter. What it sounds like you're saying is that you need to work your way upto the UFC, if that's the case then the vast majority of TUF contestants should not be allowed to compete in the UFC either!
all Kimbo has is knockout power but where does that get you when your put on your back?
dnz 21 wrote:when did i say anyone needs to work there way up to the UFC?
i said it will give the UFC problems trying to legitimise it as a sport if the champ is a street brawler
jamsie w wrote:Exactly!! I'm sure there are many 'ex' street fighters & 'thugs' in the UFC & Dana doesn't create the fuss he does with Kimbo. if he is a contracted ufc fighter he will be an ex street brawler like rampage

dnz 21, if you read my reply, what I said was 'it sounds like you're saying' referring to your comments about Rampage & Bas being well respected in mma before they entered the UFC unlike Kimbo.![]()
Ultimately, it's the fans who make the UFC what it is & it is pretty obvious that the fans want to see Kimbo in the UFC which is why Dana is reluctantly giving him the opportunity via TUF.......& cashing in on it!!
As Jamsie w said earlier, it may take a few losses for Kimbo to go cap in hand back to Bas to start training 'properly'!!
But to say that Kimbo is 'still' a street brawler is naive.
dnz 21 wrote:ok i am naive :stfu: iv seen Kimbo fighting in MMA organisations but never seen any MMA from himI will make my mind up once I see how he performs through TUF! :badrazz:
i believe he is about 36ish now so a few losses as you put it and getting on in age he wont be fighting in the UFC any more no matter who he trains with
Kimbos last fight at heavyweight against a LIGHT heavyweight that was due to fight on the undercard. Seth was also on TUF and never made it in the UFC as he wasnt good enough
make your own mind up
and before you twist it was a lucky shot look at his fight before that, he was shit in that as well
jamsie w wrote:every ones talking about kimbo and how bad he will be for the ufc because of his background as a streetfighter. ok i agree street fighting for a start isnt legal and isnt the safest but its fighting. if i was a pro mma fighter i would be more annoyed about ex nfl guys appearing on tuf apart from bulk and maybe cardio they have no fighting background. In episode 1, the really tall black ex NFL players stamina was a bit dodgy! Rampage thought he was going pass out on the mat after the first session!
