Ok, so figured it was time to swap out the standard head unit in favour of one i had bought for me a while back.

Bough the Autoleads silver fasica adapter. Spent seeral hours filing all the edges off, just in order to make the damn thing fit! Got it back together only to find that none of the bolt holes in the metal framework line up with the bolt holes in my new stereo, so i have no way of securing the stereo whatsoever! I'm rather fond of the lack of clunks and rattles so would rather keep it that way!

Is this quite a common problem? If so, are there any adapter-type things that could be adapted to fit? It's starting to do my head in now as i've driven the car for days with no centre console. So, no fans, heat, cold or anything.

Anyone?

I'm afraid that advice is good advice, I have the autoleads facia and could not get it to line up properly, looks cool without the facia anyhooz

funnily enough, after i posed this thread, i read from searching that people had done it.

i'll see if i can make it line up.

anyone got any close-up photos of what it'll be like?

i quite like the standard honda plastic pocket, it's got better paint on it than the crap autoleads one.

annoyed i spent 15 quid on the fascia now. that could have gone towards petrol ;)

I have one that lined up just fine - no gaps anywhere. I've not seen this issue discussed much on the forum. The only problem that's widely known is that they sag a bit after supporting a headunit for a while. No closeup pics of mine I'm afraid as I returned my ICE to stock last year.

Not so keen on the silver one as the colour match I don't think is very good with the rest of the console. The black one looks fine though, even when it has sagged a little. I suppose you get used to having a DIN h/u in the original plastic, but to me it doesn't look right.

there's loads of threads about how crap the fit is :(

i'm assuming they sag because people aren't securing the head unit with bolts, so the rear of the head unit is just hanging of the front of the fascia, and presumably rattling around and clunking over bumps. not good enough for me i'm afraid. i've owned a peugeot before, i bought a honda for better build quality. i'm be damned if i'm going make my own little peugeot out of the CTR!!! ;)

No my headunit was completely screwed in and secure. There were no rattles or clunking as you describe. I understand where you're coming from in a way, as the Autoleads fascia isn't the most robust of things. But imo without it the headunit fitments looks like more of an amateur job than with it.

decided to give up as it looked atrocious.

tried it without the fascia and the head unit looked even worse and slid straight through the hole and looked crap when on top of the pocket.

back to standard head unit i go. just a shame it doesn't play mp3s....

wonder if there's any add-on i can get to play mp3s through its aux input....

rico83, any chance you could PM me some pictures of yours without the facia?

I currently have a new HU waiting to be fitted, i just haven't got round to getting a facia.

I don't really want to waste my money on a facia that's not going fit. Would like to see what it looks like before i start playing about with fibreglass again.

Cheers.
