Well considering I have rust on both sills then I would say that this is a paintwork (or lack of paint) problem.

It's going to the Dealers tomorrow to be photographed :?

my 04 CTR back bumper was a lot darker than the rest of the car. A large patch under the number plate made it's self seen about 3 weeks after i got the car. I took it back to honda and they had the bumper re-sprayed no problem. Other than that it's A1

Main problem with the black cars is the poor finish. I understand that Honda only use one coat of laquer which is sprayed on thickly leaving a badly orange peeled finish. This orange peel look is compounded once the car is polished and waxed. The new ones seem to be even worse.

I have just changed the car for a new '05 one and took it straight from Honda into a bodyshop for a hard and soft mop, polish and then Diamondbrite two-pack paint protection.

Needless to say it now looks very very good.

Have to be very careful though with the bodywork angles and edges not to "go though" the laquer. Well worth the additional expense.

Bodyshop is Carworx, Mark 07956 464 4888. They are based in Earlswood, nr Solihull, West Midlands.

Just been back to my local dealer to report paint flaking on front spoiler under wheel arch, both sides affected.

Dealer said they would send pictures to Honda to see if it is a warranty claim. Bought the car secondhand and only done 4K myself in six months. Not impressed. But after reading posts here, sounds like more people have paint quality issues and not just paint that likes to come off when you wash the car.

Its more dangerous to look after the car and garage it, then not wash the thing.

Advise please!

My 53 plate Red CTR has faded to a slightly pinky on metalwork but not on plastics actually looks worse after cleaning and putting 3 coats of meguiars wax on. But its red they all do that

I think the problem with the plastic panels being a different shade is because the plastic is primed in a darker shade than the rest of the car :? ie, milano has a white base coat hence the different colour

Sorry to make such a late late post here, but we've just bought a very well cared for Satin Silver 2004 CTR. Although very shiney and glitch free, the paint itself varies in shades at different angles. The car has never been pranged, but it got me worried its had a poor respray at some point. However, having read all these posts, especially the ones about poor finish on satin silver cars, i'm quite releived that although the finish is a bit crud, its a Honda job and not a backstreet cover up!!
