Opinions on Diaz vs Condit?

I don't know, I mean using the 10 points system Condit did win the fight - but it was much closer than a lot of the judges gave it. One of the main things being is how the scoring is weighted for a leg kick/body kick etc... as this was where Carlos really beat Nick. And I know that circling away and getting yourself off the fence is what you're trained to do....

..BUT flip me what a boring way to win a fight, basically seemed like he just ran away for 5 rounds whilst picking Nick off with leg kicks and counters. I can totally understand Nicks frustration, he pushed the pace the entire fight, he controlled the centre of the Octagon - but this doesn't mean sh-t if you're down on strikes for that round?

Condit's game of basically winning fights may get him a title shot, but where did the fighter we've seen for the past 3 fights go? Where was all the talk of knock-outs and submissions? He lamed it out and I really hope it doesn't make Nick quit, as he's a real credit to the sport.

Condit did the perfect fight and easily won in my eyes. Last thing anyone wants to do with either of the Diaz brothers is A) stand in front of them and be hit with all the shots they throw and B) go to the ground where there jitz is awesome. Condit did all of that perfect, picked his shots and dictated the fight. If Diaz spits his dummy out thats just tough shit, should have cut the cage off better or tied him up instead of just flapping your arms about in frustration. He is just a sore looser and frustrated he couldnt implement his fight where as Condit did. Makes him look even more like a child throwing his toys out the pram with his "retirement" speech at the end

It wasnt the best fight for fans as every fan knows these two are very exciting fighters but it just didnt happen on that night. Condit did what he had to do to secure the interim belt and made sure he got the shot at fighting to be a champion, cant knock the lad for that

diaz didnt no what to do with the faster, better all round stricker that is condit.. i like diaz and always have but he just likes trapping people against the cage and punching and most of the time people get smothered by the amount of punches thrown, obviously condit had watched a few fights :-D not much power in his strikes but they were landing. some fancy combos thrown aswell, which diaz shouldnt have been allowing condit to throw.

the big country fight was [smilie=karls_thumb.gif] super knees  pointing at the ground

Anyway, enough about that fight. I thought Figueroa vs Caceres was a decent fight.

Couldn't find fight metric stats for this match - but the judges decision doesn't seem to make sense. Caceres took every round, thus 30 - 27, then minus the 2 points... You could argue that the first round was a draw 9 - 9 due to the knock down, but I think Caceres took it in the end.

On another note, why deduct 2 points for the low blow? He didn't do it on purpose, so 1 point is sufficient. Never seen that before and it seemed unnecessary here & in the end made him lose a fight he clearly had won.

Onto other people who got robbed, Mike Pearce. What a bs decision - Koscheck handed another fight after trying to bore us to death and jab his opponents eyes out. How he wasn't deducted a point i'll never know....

Yeh the main event was pretty good - some other decent fights too... although haven't watched them all yet. Liked the look of Struve in his fight, he's really worked on his striking - picks his shots beautifully now.

UFC 144 - will make a full post for discussion when I have more time... (SPOILER COMING UP)

....as a quickie though gotta love this gif. Shame he came in overweight, under-prepared. If he really loved Japan he would at least have had the respect to do that. He got out classed, good job Bader.
