CRZ in "well, it's alright, if you like that sort thing, I 'spose" shocker.

It seems that the chassis has been set up very safely to give you the choice between numerous states of understeer when you lose grip, and not much else.

Right, Honda. Throw away the batteries, stick a mahoosive engine in their, give it lift off oversteer, then we'll talk.

145bhp on the Spoon car with weight stripped and 0-60 down to 6.9 its a little bit more promising but then you consider the extra price over the original its a complete rip off.

True. It's the equivalent of £26k! Which means the Mugen version will be £52k...

The Spoon version has an OTR price of £20K in the US. Not sure where you got your £26K figure from.

GT model is £19995, is it not? And the extras are $8k. At current exchange rates, that's £5229. I make that £25224 all in, if you really have to be pedantic.

What are you basing your pricing on? That is the US version of the car. It is not available in the UK with Spoon.

The article clearly states Spoon US.

However..........also............whilst the GT is £19995 in the UK, you will get these with decent discounts in 6 months just like any car. Plus, if you were going to do this to your car, why would you buy the GT? You'd buy the cheapest version as its going to be stripped bare.

good question, why would you buy this car and spend loads on it to make it go reasonably fast, and have a hybrid that only return 25 to 29mpg. bit of a joke. just buy a ,dare i say, french hot hatch. which seem to be filling the market honda have left for them.

You said they were selling like hot cakes and they can't make enough of them.

They are. I don't understand the point you're making? If you sell more the price goes down, you obviously don't understand how supply and demand works. If you order 1000 at £x and the initial order is actually 10000 then the price changes and gets lower.

True, no point buying the "bling" version just to strip it all out. so at £17,000 + the $8K makes ~£22,300 (at current exchange). but we know that things tend to be cheaper in the US so if spoon were to do a similar thing in the UK then these mods would cost more which may push the cost back up to the 25k mark. Although this is unlikley as i doubt honda would permit them to do this just having set up a division of mugen in the UK, and lets face it if mugen did a similar thing it would likely cost considerably more than 25K.

i find it kind of funny that honda have finally set up a division of mugen in the UK and then go and remove any car worthy of spending the cash on from production leaving only hybrids and eco cars to work with. And given these cars intended market it is doubtfull that any prospective buyers would want such "performance" modifications, go honda! which makes the mugen civic a waste of money, at least for honda and/or mugen.

I should imagine that the concept of supply and demand was well understood. if all the cars are being bought rapidly at the asking price then why lower it, if any thing if they are being bought at a rate at of faster than you can supply them then the price will rise. it is only when no one wants them and you build up stock that you start selling them off cheap? The point you mention (that of bulk discount, slightly different) in reality would only serve to line hondas pocket with needed cash and would likley not be passed on to the buyer, or not in full. yes, given time the price will fall, but this will be the same for similar cars in that market, and thus it will hold its price standing in the market. And as a consequence, remain just as an unattractive purchase option as it started at, in my opinion.

That would make the new 27,450 entry level Elise start to look better value.

27,450 is entry level now?

The RX8 seems a bargain these days. If you could buy it in Europe anymore, that is. One by one, the manufacturers capable of producing practical, affordable, entertaining cars drop them to leave anonymous econoboxes and fill the previous niches with anonymous econoboxes that contain batteries. Sad, and only set to get worse with EU5 approaching.
