One of Europes quickest Hondas 10.82@138mph
That is quite funny. Saves changing sigs every few days I suppose.

Wheelie bars arent to stop it doing wheelies they are there to pre-load the front wheels as when the fast cars including Paul, Guy, Scott and Pete lauch the rears drop down unloading the front thus loosing grip. We cant do that here in street class. What the silly quick golf does is replace its rear shocks with solid bars thus stopping this compression.

Oh yeah and that track is a pukka FIA track so times stand. Saying that even the Swedes that came over for the Euro's say Pod runs quickest in Europe.

I even think one of those crazy volvos hitting a 9s, but not official.
You all go ahead and claim all you want but it's not the fastest Honda in Europe.
That will be the "Micro-climates" you get in Scandinavia that will be.

The AVR CRX is not street legal but it is not a tube chassie.. It should do 8sec passes all day but you wouldn´t belive the trouble that team has been through.. 2 turbos 2 blocks a few heads and gearboxes cambreakage etc.. It´s expensive and I hope they gathered there strength this year and will comeback strong 2008 with alot more luck.. They have been laying low for this season.

Tullinge track is not down hill.. I cant explaine why it looks like it in the vids.. AVR still has the fastest honda in europe as far as I know.

My own car will probebly brake 10,6 sec but I don´t have any times. I have been consentrating in getting my bussiness started for this season and to be onest I have lost the motivation temporary.. But for 2008 I hope I will have it at the strip. It made 587 hp on an engine dyno.
The videos is dark but the sound speaks for it selfs.. The vids are on half the boost pressure..

Nice motor Fredrick and cant take anything away from it but B16 thats so 1980`s

things have moved on, you need to be at the cutting edge of honda engine technology and for that Its

All the way :)

Stephan Papadakis was running 10s in a B16 in the 1980`s :-D :-D

K Series is where its it just look at the US ok there are some fast B16`s etc etc but all the records and the major players use K Power

Yep k-series is cool and a k24 with a gt42r has crossed my mind.. When my build stated the k-series was not available.

Besids.. When I´m doing low 10 sec passes all day, maybe even high 9s, you´ll be changing your probebly 3rd 6speed cable gearbox on your broken k-series car.. How 80s is that?

The short ratio 6speed gerabox with the suck as cables just don´t perform well in a high hp car.. Custom gearbox? Well then I would get a 6cyl bmw m5 engine instead..

Got to admit but, so far Scott is running a completely standard 6 speed box and has been running that for well over 15 Passes...................and its not gone wrong yet.........crosses fingers.

Will admit the Gearbox is definately the weak link with the K but im sure that there will soon be a way round the problem.

Take it easy on the B’s mate

I run a fully built B16, T35 NOS, and no problems to date, oh, just a new clutch plate after 22K miles.
I could have thrown money at a K just as easily BUT add up the cost of B v K technology and you’ll soon understand why the B will be around for a while yet, K tuning in comparison isn’t cheap.
The reason I frequent this forum is to keep abreast of the progress you guys are making, in the last 6 months it’s been very good, personally, I would like to know about failures and problems, this will eventually aid my decision towards a K.

And just for your info, my little OLD B16 took the FWD handling at TOTB

Received this e-mail from Santa Pod:-

New UK Records set at the JapShow Finale 6 & 7 October 2007

It almost comes as no surprise to find that the boundaries of drag racing with Japanese cars have been pushed back once again after a storming weekend at the JapShow Finale at Santa Pod Raceway. Records were being observed for Front Wheel Drive, Four Wheel Drive and Rear Wheel drive Japanese cars, and all three were smashed in dramatic style.

Scott Whitelaw ran a new UK FWD record for a Japanese car in his CPL Racing Honda Civic Type R of 10.691 seconds and 137.27mph, backing up his personal best and beating Paul Jones’ record which stood for just one week.

Andy Barnes ran a new UK 4WD record in his Sumo Power Nissan Skyline R33 GTR of 8.408 seconds and 162.48mph. Andy ran a personal best of [email protected] but failed to back it up to 1% for the record. This is an outright record for any 4WD car in the UK.

Steve Whittaker ran a new UK RWD record for a Japanese car in his XS Power Toyota Supra, which ran a record pass of 8.389 seconds, and a record speed of 168.61mph. Steve also ran an 8.013 second pass and one with a terminal speed of 173.14mph but failed to back up either to within 1%.

All records stated are backed-up to within 1% at the same event in accordance with MSA regulations.

What Santa Pod mean is that in order for it to be an offcial record it needs to be backed up within 1% or the best time. I.e. I ran 10.69 sec. On the Sat I ran a 10.77 sec pass. Thats within 1% and at the same event so the 10.69sec stands.

If it was not within 1% then the higher time of the 2 stands.

You get it now??

hehehe dont worry I know there plenty life left in the B`s yet, and I agree that the K is still a very expensive proposition for a lot of people, as for failures and problems on the K engine wise not much really, its hard to get people to sleeve them that actually know what they are doing, (loads say they do) Other than that there is the oil pump problem when revved over a certain RPM but sure your aware of that, but as a motor goes there bloody strong, the only weak link appears at the moment to be the Gearbox, which it likes to eat a lot and spit out.

There are plenty of people still running B16`s some superb ones in the states running amazing times, and I guess the argument will always rage about whats the best, I have seen power figures in excess of 800BHP from both K Series and B16.......................and I agree at the moment to make big power I guess its cheaper on a B16 rather than a K, congrats on TOTb by the way :)

As I said before, your time holds a lot of value for many reasons.

Pete,
I almost forgot to congratulate you on the PB, that’s a stunning time, by the looks of it you’ll be dropping well into the 11’s soon.

I have to agree the K is the way forward based on the evidence but as discussed, just a little too expensive for my pocket at the moment :bigcry: .

I’m just happy to see so many UK FWD cars breaking into the 10’s

Great time guys, and very impressing for a heavy CTR! But please remove the "New european record" and fastest honda in Europe from the list of trofys... It's simply just not true. The AVR CRX may not run by the same rules, but it's still a Honda never the less!
