FN2 with mods then Decat

Graph shows effects of Bastuck decat had on my FN2.

Top graph, solid line was done 2 days before and is with AEM intake, HKS Exhaust and Hondata Reflashed ECU.
Dotted graph is after only fitting of the Decat. It clearly shows a drop of 10bhp and tail off in torque!

Initial results driving the car felt good as you can clearly see its working well under 6000rpm where its got rid of that torque dip after vtec, however the restriction in the pipe diameter starts choking the exhaust gasflow loosing power at top end.

*I will add though investigations are being made into construction of the pipes as there seem to be 2 different ones. Stella has one that is same size all the way down. I have and seen others now with a reducing cone on a bend and this I think is causing the problem. Chris at ABP is taking this up directly with the supplier. *

If only the peak wasnt an issue it realy smooths out after vtec on that chart.

It does look very promising with the reflash. Be good if we can get diameter sorted and think we be onto a winner.
Interesting if you look at the decat. The pipe is massive right until the catback flange. Thats what we need.

Does seem odd when its ment to be a hiflow item! I know TDI basicly hate decats but did they feel it would be good if the diameter was consistant? i reckon one could be made up from powerflow etc?

god im starting to get concious about this now..i thought mine was a good gain on lower revs but it didnt change my bhp at all..thought i jus needed an induction...perhaps i got the one same as Stella..how much smaller is it? mine seems the same as the one before...

TDi don't sell decats as its a compromise and they believe things should be done properly so it would be proper manifold and ecu remap. No issues then.
Thing is if decats have been fitted and mapped in the past you do see gains. Not in same respect as if you fit a manifold but you do see gains. Problem is with this one is the reduction is bigger than in the old EP3 ones in terms of where the bends are and flow so not even seeing improvements they did with the old ones.

Was looking at getting it modified as you say.

Maybe Stella could post up a picture of his so we can compare?

So you only saw midrange gains as well?
