Very impressive list of modifications there, MrEvilOwl.

I particularly like the exterior cat scratch modifications. I myself have only managed to stretch to the cat urine coating.

Clicked round to 30k the other week, she'll be 4 years old in April

Half of that has been done outside the UK so purely pleasure miles

Mr. Owl,

Might sound a bit of an idiot here but looking at the VERY impressive list of mods, I'm almost disappointed by your dyno print. Am I being mislead by all the ither prints I've seen where an induction kit and back box are splooging an extra 10bhp or more? If not, where's your power going?

Only asking because I get the feeling you're one of the few on here who actually knows what he's talking about...

Highest regards

Ex

Tons of footage but it's all on my PC and I'm crap at editing so it'll stay there for a while until I learn Sony Vegas or Final Cut Pro
Devilfox wrote:Very nice loving the pics, what camera was used on the Brands Hatch, Kent - 2006?
Nikon D200 body and a Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens

A couple of things to note. First of all dyno charts should really be taken with a pinch of salt. They are pretty much all calibrated differently so you will get different results depending on where you go. They are primarily a tuning tool after all, it's not a true measure of power as there are so many variables (air temp, tyre pressure among other things) that can come into play to make the result different.

Secondly, that's power measured at the wheels, so by calculating back it's 237bhp at the flywheel assuming 18% loss (9% transmission loss and 9% dyno loss). Sara's race EP3 got approx 5bhp more at 199 at the wheels the same day, she has similar mods to me except she has a PRC intake manifold as well and the car is fully mapped. Mine is running a free map off the internetz. Milanochris's DC5 with GruppeM, Toda manifold, catback and KPro made 3 or so bhp more than mine did at the same time and we all know DC5's have more power to start with. See the thread about the Salisbury RR meet in the dyno section for more charts from the same day.

The last time my car was on the dyno at CPL (3 years ago) it had KPro, Spoon catback and GruppeM fitted, along with the US RSX map and it made 178 bhp at the wheels, but at the time it didn't have many miles on the clock, so it's safe to say that the engines on the Type R's do loosen up over time, but the major gain in my case would have been the Toda manifold

It's certainly not slow on the road or track  It will stick quite nicely to my friends 300bhp Impreza STi Type R (seen in the last 'ring pic above) on everything apart from slow speed corners where his extra traction counts

HTH
