Cleaning the hob

Spent over an hour cleaning my new cooker yesterday. Something had burnt on and was like super glue, the only way I could remove it was by using a plastic spoon and scratching off the burnt in mass.
I had tried fairy liquid, dishwasher powder, lemon and baking powder and a combination of all.
So what are the best things to clean the cooker with?
Oh my maid had the day off.

I will give that a go.
TBH after 3 years of no kitchen cleaning is a novelty although I need to stock up on cleaning stuff.

I used a kettle full.
This was burned on like an over would burn I think the heat it gives off is akin to the space shuttle taking off. Lucky the stainless used on wolf is like NASA grade and was able to take some abuse. Just waiting till someone decides to clean it with a wire brillo.
