Remote idle speed control valve and new brake reservoir cap have arrived. Will get them fitted one night this week. 

The holes are already in the inner wing, so that makes it easier. Hopefully my idle problems will be resolved and my brake fluid leak.  :)

New reservoir cap fitted, and remote idle speed control valve fitted.  

Set idle speed at 850rpm, returns back 850rpm after revving the engine. No stalling when dipping the clutch and idles loads better, smoother too. So all good so far. Just need to take it for a test drive after I finish call.

Exhaust clip from my MK4 with 1.6efi cvh with 2" bore down pipe back stainless steel exhaust.  :D

Took the Escort for a good 40 mile drive this morning, idle is spot on now. So can stop and drive off properly now. Seems to be a bit quicker too.


Definitely have no brake fluid leaks, but still had fluid on top of the gearbox. Looks like it was coming from the transmission to clutch housing bolt. Checked the bolts, and they didn't seem that tight. So torqued them up to the correct amount. Hopefully that's sorted it.

Not very exciting, got some tailored mats as I was sick of the rubber ones sliding about.

Collected a few parts today, correct airbox for the remote idle speed control valve I fitted. Genuine Ford Indicator to replace the aftermarket one I have fitted. And a coil pack cover that mine was missing. Just need a good clean before I fit them all.

Took the Escort out the garage for a bit to run her, first turn of the key and idling spot on.

Finally fitted my genuine o/s amber indicator and gave her a good run up.

Changed my knackered under bonnet stickers today, but used ones for a 1.6 efi engine so they are correct.

Cheers mate, getting paint and dents sorted soon. Got a 88spec XR3i spoiler to go on, will be colour coded along with mirrors. Dark Grey bottom half like lx, ghia, sport models. Rubbing strips with red insert. And a mk3 style boot sticker. Can't wait.

Also picked up some rubbing strips, and ordered some 12mm red Coach line to replace the chrome in the rubbing strips.

Been out and about in the Escort nearly all day today, always puts a smile on my face.

When I the idle control valve to the Hitachi Ford modification. I didn't realize they also replaced the ecu. The car has been idling better but every now and it started hunting. So I sourced a 1afa ecu and it arrived today.  



Car fired up absolutely perfectly, idle was spot on. Even know the battery had been disconnected. 

Got up to temperature, and fans didn't kick in. Done ecu reset procedure. Still no fan. Switched off engine, before it got to the red. So I could bridge the fan switch plug. And the fan switch fell apart in my hand. Checked fan still, and all working. Just need a new switch.  

Think it's past its beat lol
