We've got one, the wife bought it a couple of years ago when she decided that her MX-5 was too slow.
Pros - makes a nice noise, easy to punt along on the mid range torque if you like that kind of thing, comfortable interior, reasonable cargo/storage space (compared to Elise or MX-5, not compared to RX-8 or a hatchback), decent performance.
Cons - big heavy car feels big and heavy. As Ali says, feels more of a would-be muscle car or GT than a sportscar. Ride quality poor - not as bad as sitting in the back of an EP3, but not great. Engine does its best in the mid range, I prefer engines that goad you to use every last rev.
Running costs aren't too bad for what it is. Ours is averaging 23mpg, will do low 30's on a run. Needs Super, has a massive tank - if you share it with your mrs, never offer to fill it up! Tyres are what you would expect Flipping huge low profile Bridgestones to be. Servicing seems fairly reasonable, couple of hundred quid a time. The Nissan dealer wanted to bend us over for a set of discs, so I replaced them myself at a much more reasonable cost.
I quite like it overall. It's flawed but it's got character. It probably wouldn't have been my choice, I like my cars light and revvy, and I thought our RX-8 was a better driver's car, but my wife loves it. The noise is the best thing about it (bit quiet up to 20 seconds in):
cheers for the Pro's and Con's mate. sounds like im going to like it. im not after a fast, nimble performance car, more a nice comfortable cruiser, with a bit of punch, nice noise, and comfy interior (bar the plastics, lol).
the hunt has begun! might be going to see a blue one next week.
500bhp has never been cheaper Just watch the paint quality. The mechanicals are very reliable as long as the owner hasn't tried to many launches (driveshafts and gearboxes don't like over 450lbft being abused) though paint quality can be flaky, literally in some cases.

Design fault with rear driveshafts. If you testdrive one listen carefully.
Did you get the pics I sent?
Yeah I've read alot on the clicky rear axles. Pretty cheap fix nowadays, but still hassle. You mainly hear it when going from 1st to Reverse and vice versa.
No didn't get the emails mate, try send them again mate!!
pulpmelon_r wrote:They are super cheap these days - you have to get the late model with twin throttles though, all the other vq motors suck.
The VQ motors are decent. The HR with twin bodies only come in 08 onwards, not really prepared to spend that sort of money on a car seeing as I'm only going to keep it for a little while as a bit of fun cruising.
I'll probably be getting either a late preface or early facelift, not too fussed. 20bhp engine difference doesn't really bother me, the things drawing me to the facelift are, darker front lights, led rears and the dash is slightly updated but still looks very similar. Things putting me off are £400+ tax and the initial premium. Whereas preface are a fair bit cheaper, £200 odd tax, plus as they're fairly low in price and come down a fair bit in the last year or so, it shouldn't really drop at all by the time I come to sell. I am willing to spend the extra on a Facelifted 'special' car, aslong as i can come to an arrangement with the seller (12 months tax, and the right price for the car ) You feel me dawg? Lol

Linky not working broskie!
I did think monaro, but then the thought left my head.
They are worth trying, but I can pretty much guarantee the monkeys dressed as Vauxhall "specialists" will try their best to ruin it. From the owners' forum rants, it would be faster to send it back to Australia to get fixed if anything goes wrong!
