Right guys and gals this is a how too guide aswell so if you wana to do this yourself then follow or just ask .................

After alot of time (since i bought her) the shoes were flip bubbled and kurbed and faded and i added a whole kurbed wheel to the collection!

So after much research and pondering i thought flip it ill do it and have a crack at it myself as ive got till monday off still and the misses is just sitting studying for her last few exams for uni and iam just sitting on my arse ............

This is the kit you need also so 80,240 and 1200 grade sandpaper.

Wheels before:



Wheels sanded all down with 80 first,then soapy water+240 after:

Wash thoroughly:(found suger soap is good)

Mask off:


Then 1 coat of primer at a time (3 in total):




Thats as far as iam up to at min carrying on 2moro and will update you on colour ect ect......

Right well ive been looking on the site and other places for what colour to go for on the wheels and to be honest i really wanted white but it looked :ymca: and dark wheels do look good on the sliver so,.............





looked at black wheels and to be honest i thought they looked a bit dripspeed (ripseep) off the shelf jobbie so went for honda graphite gray and the pics RLY RLY dont do them any justice cause it was done with a mob camara so shall take pics of them 2moro on car with a decent camara :thumbup:



But the wheel that was WELL flip (kurbed) came out a blinking treat :WOOT

I could not belive how well it work!!
but it is so so true the more effort put into the prep shows in the end product!!!

So for something that would of cost £220+ has cost me £35 and 2days work in no rush

Iam over the moon!!!!
(also found out the civic wheels are eneki's!)
going to get some coloured wheel nuts though...............

what colour peps???
red blue ....ect ect?





oh ya sorry forgot to add the instructions...........

once you have let the primer dry for 24 hours wet sand with 1000 grit paper wash and dry again or you can wipe it dry but for best result wash it!

After this you can start painting :thumbup:


One coat a time 3 coats in total with the paint you decided on


Then allow 20mins to dry till tacky then its time to crack open the tin of lacquer!

This is excatly same as the paint,
3 coats with 10min gap between sparys then FINISHED :WOOT

you can leave for 24 hours or use a hair dryer on it for 30 mins and leave for 8 hours but i would leave it if you can!!!

Then make cuppa T or beer :thumbup: stand back and enjoy your handy work and shiney new none kurbed alloys

How easy was it to spray the wheels accurately with a can of paint?
How do you avoid overpainting certain areas?

I can see how a flat surface would be easy to get a consistent coat of spary paint on.....but wheels must be a nightmare???

BTW, nice colour, but take the centre caps out...or spray them the same colour and get [email protected] to make you some red 'H' graphics to complete the job :thumbup:

I done mine last summer exactly how it's shown above and it was straight forward but time consuming. I done mine outside in the element but they still came out very well, I went for Halford Satin Black....

Looks quality. Im going to do mine white.

Ye do it mate I done mine in about 2 weeks as I had to drive the car so for a little while I had 1x black wheel and 3x silver then one side black wheels and the other side silver wheels e.c.t, it looked :ymca: for a while, once its all done you'll love it, £30-£40 to get your wheels looking sweet again.

When you sanded it down did you sand all the way to the bare metal on all the wheel? or just the through the laquer or to the primer?
Secondly, did you spray the inner part of the wheel (the part you see through the spokes?)

( Hello matt,

Well i sanded down past lacquer (a must!) and in places where the damage or peel was bad i just kept sanding till it went, (you have to get rid of all of it otherwise it will just peel ect again :thumbup: ) but smoothed around the area to make it blend as much as poss.
Dont worry too much as the high build primer will sort most of it out.

BUT after using the rough sand paper please please use the finer grade everywhere as if you DONT you WILL get a scratched effect so make sure you smooth the whole wheel with the finer grade sand paper.

Also for the inside's, yes i did spray them but as you will see that the orignal surface is quite rough so all i did was use the rough grade sand paper to get the old brake dust off and a light spray to blend it in but do lacquer it aswell,
also buy the hardest lacquer in a can you can,ive used high strength lacquer (which is totally completely fine!!) but i have just got a stone chip on one of my wheels so just buy hardest you can mate (if not then dont worry as iam sure it just my luck to get a stone chip on a wheel lol).
Also once you have done them and on car ect ect, when you come to wash you car+wheels for the first time since fitting your new wheels :WOOT
only use soapy water and NO alloy cleaning products if you can! because thats what causes these problems at the start :bad-words:
So if you can matt clean as regular as you can to keep them clean as a whistle :salut:

As above, I went for a strong laquer also, Halfords do a good one as I have not suffered any stone chips. I left the inner rims alone, as you drive around the brake dust covers the inside anyway so I didn't bother, however if you have the time, place and tools (I didn't) I would recommend taking the tyre off and doing the whole lot. :thumbup:

Am looking at doing mine or getting them done. and also want red stripe round but not sure if it would fit and not willing to fork out a fortune for special wheels.
any body put stripes on rim???

Went for matte black with orange calipers.

Me and M18HOF have re- done ours with red stripe on rim mate......looks really good! ill get some pics up this weekend! :thumbup:

did you buy a pin stripe sticker or actually paint the lip?

If the latter... let me know how you did it!
