Hi,
Im tring to connect my mp3 player via a 3.5mm headphone jack to my 2004 CTR standard headunit via tha auxilary input.

I've been browsing the forum and from what I gather a HONS3 cable could be used to utilise the auxilary input of the CTR headunit, so an mp3 player etc could be connected rather than using fm transimitters.

However the code on the front of my headunit reads "23F51" I havent managed to find as to whether this cable works with this model of headunit. If it doesnt is there an alternative cable that can be suggested.

My headunit does have the function to switch between cd and aux on a 2 click operation so there is the ability to connect a cd changer.

Any help would greatly be appreciated cos the dealers dont really have a clue?

Cheers

Search eBay for "Connects2 CTVHOX001 - Aux Adapter - Honda"
Just under 37 squids for the exact thing you need! Simple to fit (follow ANY of the 'how to remove facia' guides here on online), and i found the best place to mount the 'box' (you'll see when you get it) is to use double sided tape, and mount it to the underside of the 'tray' (you know, the bit BELOW the stereo).

At the moment i'm trailing the 3.5mm jack out under the ashtray, but once i pick up the neccesary part (maplins - '3.5mm stereo chassis plug' if you're interested) i'll drill and mount this so the socket in the centre piece console i.e. so i can plug the ipod in and hide it out of sight.

It's a neat bit of kit and does the job!

Hi,

Yep just took the centre console facia off via the guide. Its a pioneer honda headunit so it will work with the cable mentioned above.

I just ordered the cable for £36.99, should be with me in 2 days.... I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanx for your swift and accurate response I really appreciate it!

Glad you got the kit sorted!

As I'd said before, here are some pics of where i've sited the mp3 plug. I decided to go for this as opposed to having the 3.5mm JACK swinging about as I feel it looks nearter, kinda OEM!
Also, it keeps the 'pod nicely out of view of bad boys!

Wasn't too hard to fit either, just followed the forum instructions! I did have to cut, strip, and solder a twin phono cable to the '3.5mm stereo jacket' which took 3 attempts (thus, 2 trips to maplins!). In the end i'm very pleased with it!

Wasn't that hard - you have to take all the facia/gear surround off anyway to get to the stereo, then (following the instructions on the 'how to ICE' thread) it's just a case of removing the two centre console units (hand brake surround, and centre console), which is really quite simple too!

Routing the cable from the stereo to the centre console is easy once you have all the facias off - you'll see you can simply route it out from BEHIND the ashtray and down to the centre console. Once the centre console is back on, you can't see any of the wires - great!

Really the 'how to ICE' guide is such a useful document - can't remember who did it, but it's great!!

Here we go - GRINGOSTEVE!!!
