Why did you choose a Type R?
I’ve always had an avid interest in cars growing up. Motorsport is a big passion of mine, competing in different forms such as Formula TKM and Formula Rotax Max. With a background like this, I wanted to own a brand which not only made great cars, but also had a history/interest in motorsport.
Naturally the ‘Type R’ variant sprung to mind with it’s racing pedigree. However being young at the time, insurance was high and not the most sensible of options. This lead me to my first car, a Honda Civic EP1 which later turned into a full trackday project (Featured in Max Power and Japanese ‘Option’ Magazine).
Still aspiring to own one, upon turning 20 the EP1 was sold and made way for an immaculate 2004 Cosmic Grey Civic Type-R.
Here starts a long story with the transformation of what I once told myself would be a ‘standard’ car. The car is now engineered towards a track-focused setup and the full build up from Day 1 of purchase can be seen here on my blogsite:

Tell us about your modifications?
My first car has a lot to answer for here. With a lot of trial and error, it has given me the knowledge of what’s good and what’s not. This meant I wanted to the fit the best modifications possible first time around. Every individual part enhances the cars handling/performance/stopping/stability characteristics in some way. The overall goal is to make it quicker around a track.
It’s a great learning curve, and it has given me many hours of enjoyment, both driving and working on.
Do you have any future plans for the car?
The car is always evolving with a lot of plans having been made for this year. As usual everything will be documented on my blogsite as and when it happens so keep an eye out.
I attend almost every UK car show and track the car when possible. No doubt you’ll see it around so feel free to say hello!
