Just done the job using the brill How To guide!

For future reference for everyone - the horns get in the way on the 04 model. I had to bend the brackets back quite a lot to get them out of the way!

Just thought i'd let u all know

You can just see them (where the red arrows are pointing)



A piccie taken further away, you can still just about see them if you look closely.

These things get in the way when trying to put the bumper back on (the pressure off the mesh actually stopped the horns from working). Naturally I s**t my pants having thought i'd broke my beast. But a bit of bending on the brackets they are fastened to did the trick!. I'll try to get some better piccies at the weekend using a proper camera showing the finished job!!!

Didn't someone say the pre04 horns sounded a bit sissy? maybe that's why they repositioned it?

Possibly.....cos mine blow my head off, they are well loud!!

Tip...dont stand in front of them while the bumper is off and let someone press it....headache causer (as I did to 'test' them)

IIRC you will find the horn behind the passenger front wheel arch near to the rear of the headlight.

My thoughts exactly....This is what I was hoping for when I picked the car up!

It's going to sound silly this mate but it's all down to cost. They would design a part to fit and then pay for that part to be made.

If it costs Honda 5 quid per part then multiply that by the number of Civics they sell worldwide (it's not just the CTR that has the issue) and thats how much they lose in revenue.

At the end of the day it's all down to money. Fact of life I'm afraid.

I think they prefer to sell brand new radiators though at 100 quid + fitting a time.

i asked my dealer about this problem he said its the cars with out ac that normally get the burst radiator i cant rember why he fed me some a load of wotsit ganna mesh me car today need something to do

Yup I'd have to say thats bolloks as I cant see how a car fitted with ac is any less prone to stone damage on the radiator as the ac fitted cars are just exposed at the front arnt they?

CTR's with AC have a condenser infront of the radiator, hence the radiators aren't exposed. A condenser is much cheaper to replace than a radiator, so I'm told.

As for £100 for a radiator, that sounds like the cost of the condenser rather than the radiator, but then EvoStu is rarely wrong.

Oh well never knew that, regardless youll want it protected so u dont have to worry about either getting broken.

didn't spot any condenser in between the grill and radiator...and I've got a/c...am I missing something here? Any pics please?
