Haha gotta keep you on your toes!
Well the sun has been shining, and I've been in the position of having a car ready for track season for a few weeks now! So I'm just tinkering, tweaking and generally enjoying the sun!
I'm chuffed to bits that another EP3 I bought for spares has the one Vibratechnics mount mine was missing, I now have a full set and it cost me nothing!
New vs old
It's a lot lighter being billet aluminium vs pig iron, but cruicially a lot stiffer and stronger.
All cleaned, painted and fitted, with some nifty plastic dust caps covering the new high tensile bolts
I also changed the auxillary belt while I was in there, managed to source a Quinton Hazell one for £6 delivered. So chuffed with that!
Next I started drilling holes in the passenger footwell, and using a captive nut gun to fire in these threaded inserts like so...
Three fitted in total. It's like using a riveter, you use a mandrel and give it all a squeeze, giving you a lovely threaded insert.
This allowed the fitment of the Panic Pad(tm), a device for trackday passengers who want to brace themselves!
The set of wheels I bought the other week are the wrong offset for my car, so second time lucky hopefully! Picked these up the other day and dropped them straight off for powdercoating white. Should be done this week.
Since fitting the large front splitter, the whole rear end of the car has looked tame in comparison, so I've bought a pretty mad rear spoiler brace, lol
The idea is you can bolt it to the bootlid and run it with a universal wing (which I already have). I'm going to get some large end-plates made for it too. The rationale is simply some high speed stability in fast corners. It's adjustable too, so I can set the angle of attack according to the track.
In prep for this new rear-end I've masked off the rear bumper diffuser panels
Plastidipped them black
Et voila, should match the black rear wing and bracing perfectly
And just another finishing touch, on the edge of the bonnet. So people know they are being beaten by a 2.0 n/a engine!
2 weeks till Cadwell Park and my lap record attempt, stay tuned
