my old ctr:

however, i found a bargain that i couldn't resist...
bought as spares or repair with misfire on cylinder 1. which happened in 2007, howards Honda in taunton had the car for 1.1/2 hours and couldn't work out the problem, and has been sat around for 5 years without being started or driven so it was up for sale as a non runner. so it was presumed that the car had a major electric fault. It was only 45mins away from me, a bargain i couldn't resist as Ive been looking for another one for ages!

came with a private number plate, a set of red mudflaps, heko wind deflectors, an extra set of oem 17" alloys, an extra oem ecu, 4 extra injectors. but apart from this is, its completely standard which is what i wanted. for some reason the owner took all the type r badges off??
when i went to look at the car with my mechanic (Rob from Auto Evolutions) it had been caked in mud, the inside was moldy and muddy. and obv it didn't start, he tried to explain what he thought the problem was. he attempted to jump start the car from his own vehicle and none of the lights on the dash would come on. however he had voltage from jump leads.
we agreed a price and the next day i came to collect it:

on the way back i called in on howards Honda and got a brand new battery and see what we could make of it. got it back to Auto Evolutions in Iliminster where all of the work will be carried out. put the new battery in... nothing. check the main fuses on fuse box under the bonnet and found that the main fuse (80amp) the connectors weren't touching and connected them together and she fired first time! which i was VERY pleased about.
next was to work out why is it was running on 3 cylinders. we checked to see what the reading was on each injector and cylinder one had more voltage that the rest. even with the car turned off it had voltage running to it. as 1 and 4, 2 and 3 cylinders are batched together we ran a cable from 4 to 1 so the voltage was shared, started the car and there you had it running on all four cylinders. i was a happy man!!
so the problem lied within the length of that cable from injector 1 to the ecu or the ecu. we ran the cable from the injector to the ecu and found that it was the brown cable. it ran to the 24 pin plug and it was number 5. we then ran another cable from the ecu around the outside of the car to injector number 1 and still the same. which meant that the cable wasn't damaged anywhere and that the problem is with the ecu.
the following day i set about cleaning the car from top to bottom and seeing how well the car looked after and wash and wax after 5 years! i used my snow foam lance with karcher jet washer and then gave the car a much needed polish using a autoglym super resin. i then hoovered and cleaned the inside which took some time. the dash was covered in mold and interior wasn't much better.
here are the results:

My plans are to keep the car off the road for a few months and progress with it, finishing off with a turbo or supercharger.
