Most people who have owned a Honda will know the paint work on Honda's is not the best so this first sunny weekend was spent giving her the full treatment; over 8 hours of PC polishing and waxing. It was time and money well spent.

As the Civic Type R is only a weekend car we only got to go out together at the weekends or when I was on holiday.

In July 2007 after owning the car for just over a year we went on a Honda Euro Honda Tour - visiting 8 different countries and covering around 3200 miles in a week, I think the car and I bonded during that week.

Thanks... I was very surprised at the gains I had from the Gruppe M as if truth be known I wasn't expecting much.

I'm no expect (so lets just get that straight ) but I like to think I know my car after all I think you get a feel when you think something just isnt right.

I changed the discs, as I had a good deal for discs and pads all round for both Andys (SharkyUK) Clio Trophy and my CTR. after having them on for a month and done a good few miles to bed them in nicely, I just didnt feel like they were stopping as well as they should even when warmed up, so much so I took the car back to my mate Rob and had them tested.. Was told nope they are stopping just fine. So I left it and excepted it but still wasnt happy and still never felt they were that good.

Last week I asked Rob if he could fit the rear struts and give the car a check over as we are off to the Isle of Man. I get a phone call off Rob mins later saying he was drivng my car to the garage then suddenly hears a strange noise so stops takes a look to find my rear pads have broken and part of it hanging out of the caliper I go up to the garage and watch with horror as Rob removes whats left of the rear pads which just crumbles away and all burnt around the edges. Checked the calipers fine no problem. So checked the front pads, they were low but still had enough wear left to keep me going for awhile checked the front dics and on first glance looked fine yet the grooves on the rear had pretty much gone all smooth. They hadn't been on the car that long. As I was never happy with them I went back to Ferodo DS2500 pads and factory disc, although I am still bedding them in they feel much better to me already which makes me feel much happier now

I drive Andy's Clio Trophy alot as well, yet his brakes always felt fine and much better then before. Andy's Trophy is used daily unlike my CTR and I've taken the Trophy out on a few blasts at weekend so was a little worried if the CTR is like that what are the Trophies going to like, on quick inspection plenty of wear and all seems fine. The Trophy will be going in tomorrow to have the pads and discs looked at more closely as well as a couple of other things so should know more then.

Thanks for all your kind comments and feedback.

I read a lot of other people threads on here and thought what a great idea and that it would be good for me as well as it would be a good ref to see what I have done over time as you tend to forget the little things you have done (well you do at my age!!)

I know mine is still very basic compared to a lot of the cars on here but I'm having some more work done in time which I can add and build on so fingers crossed it will get more interesting.
