What ever you're smoking, I want some!

T1R's are shi.t in the wet, the RE050's are an amazing tire!
Did I say that though? I simply asked what the standard tyre was as it was crap in the wet. And simply that I am getting the tr1's to match my rear tyres.

but due to 2 friends that I speak to on a daily basis saying they liked the tr1's I got them to replace my prada's.

guess on tyres its each to their own and what you intend to do with the car.

Conti Sport 3s topped this month's Evo magazine tyre test.

I've got them on my car and love them.

Got fed ss 595's on the rear (did have them on the front to try out. They're ok in a straight line but lateral grip is just sh;t.

Conti sport 3's are by far the best tyre I've ever had.

need 2 x tyres and undecided which ones to go for :???: I currently have Toyo Proxes T1-R all around but like people have said at speed they do feel a little "wobbly" which I guess is down to the sidewalls? I am going to put the two I have remaining (which still have loads of tread) on the back

Im running 205/45/17 on OEM rims. Looking through some people are running 215/45/17 -are there any benefits to this? I'd guess theres more surface area on the road so improved grip, less chance of curbing but possibly reduced MPG? Probably negligible though :???: The 215's also seem to be cheaper too. Would it be ok to have 215's on the front & 205's on the rear?

Looking at this thread it seems to be between Bridgestone Potenza RE050's & Continental Sport Contact 3. A google search has brought me with the following options. There are so Many options available so I may have selected the wrong rating etc so if you could point me in the right direction for any errors I’ve made it would be greatly appreciated!

I am looking at a bit of an all round tyre that handles well and is grippy for fast road yet also does not wear too quickly, I’ve read the conti sport 3’s do wear quite quickly? So possibly the potenzas RE050's might be the best choice?

Look up maxxis maz1 I spotted they do them in 205/45/17 now

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Maxxi ... Victra.htm

They look on paper to be better than the reo40s

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Bridg ... -RE040.htm

I know someone with an Astra coupe turbo running the maxxis tyres and can't fault them

them maxxis tyres do look really good on paper? but look pretty difficult to get hold of in the UK at the right sizes.

Probably going to do for the Potenzas RE050 215 / 45 / 17. Continentals look good but its the extra tyre wear that puts me off :???:

although.... Falken FK452's look better than the Potenzas but a little off the Continentals, possibly a happy medium :???: (and a nice saving)

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Falken/FK452.htm

Does anyone have any feedback for the Falken FK452's? still thinking on the 215 profile...

With tyres, you definitely seem to get what you pay for. Cheaper is rarely better, imo.
fwiw, I think the Potenzas are a great tyre ... great grip and yet durable.
Wet weather grip is irrelevant unless you are planning on doing a lot of wet trackdays.

yeah if you read through this thread some people say Kumho KU39's are the best, some say Falken FK452's are better and vice versa and also great support for the conti's but there seems to be a lot of respect for the Potenza. I hope this isnt just another GM is better than Teg M brand debate though. Dont really drive my car fast in the wet so that isnt my main concern just so long as its safe. I'd have probably stuck with the Toyo Proxes T1-R's but I just fancy something with stiffer sidewalls so I think Potenza RE050 215 profile it is for me [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]

I have the REO50A on my mighty MPS ... the sidewalls are plenty stiff, but the best part about them is that they have great stopping power, even in the cold and wet.
They got me safely out of the work car park last winter when the snow was 6" thick.

There's nowt wrong with them Potz! :salut:
