Has it ever been necessary to change the oil pump chain on an EP3 engine when having the timing chain replaced? Is it lubricated the same way as the timing chain and is it prone to stretching aswell?

The chain for the oil pump is under far less stress compared to the cam chain so it's a lot less likely to stretch or wear out. So it's not really required to change. But if for example you was doing cam chain and an oil pump all at the same time, it'd be wise to replace the oil pump chain.

Thanks Lewisgame.

Luckily, my EP3 doesn't need a new oil pump(famous last words) but I was wondering about the tolerances and lifespan of the oil pump chain.
I have had a look at various web images of the K20A without its cover in place(out of the engine bay though) to see how the two chains sit and where the oil pump is, and noticed that the timing chain doesn't seem to reach down into sump for lubrication, as I understood it did.
