recently bought a shiny new rocker cover from brenscivic (cheers mate  ) and just want to check I'm not going to break anything when i get around to installing it.

As far as I'm aware all I need to do is unbolt everything and unhook all electrics and spark plugs etc then bolt the new one on? Is there anything I need to be aware of or any tools other than a spanner and a socket set that I will need?

I was fine with doing this until guy at work has put the fear into me with a horror story of when he wrecked his trying to do it years ago - barsteward! :bad-words:

Fairly straight forward mate. Just need to undo all the nuts, take the coilpacks out, undo it from the airbox and take out 1 nut that holds the brake reserviour as you'll need to move it to get the cam cover off. Then you put give it a good tub and it call comes off revealing the beautiful VTEC cams.

Job done.

No worries mate, let us know how you get on. Try not to do it when your engine is hot though, gets pretty warm at the back near the manifold.

well it took me f'ing ages due to the fact that the heavens opened ever 10 mins but I have finally got my new cover fitted.

I've gotta say - the quality of the smoothing and painting is absolutely spot on!

I did notice one thing that I may have messed up on. the two bolts sticking up in the picture below would not come out of the old rocker cover so at the moment I have had to leave them out until i get myself a couple of spares to use in the new cover - is that normal or should they come out with some persuasion??

Looks good mate. I think they're meant to come out buy cant remember. Anyway, did you find that there is a screw missing on the top left of the rocker. I thought I lost it or something while driving and sh*t myself when I noticed but I went to Honda and noticed there is no screw on the FN2 engines neither. Strange eh?

yeah that screw on the back left of the rocker doesnt exist, but often handy for earthing kits...?

anyway, when i spooned up my rocker cover i was hoping to get those two bolts out, but i looked underneath and they appear to be pressed in, so if they were removed oil would spray everywhere. i wonder if bren has smoothed them off on the new one? i left mine on as i now use them to mount cable clips for the coil pack wiring...

anyway, clean that bloody bay, but the cover looks top.

cheers, sam.

Good point, i chnge my oil regularly, but i was impressed how cleam it stays. I work in a garage and most petrol cars dirty ntheoil quite quickly, not black but brown.

My CTR has kept the oil like new for the past two months, which pleases me, because i know all the oil ways will be lovely, fresh, and clear :-D
